Well I think the photos look pretty decent personally. Has anyone got a K800i AND a P1i, perhaps then we could have some direct comparison pics.

kankonq8 - Nice pics!.
These picture threads are always interesting, not only because of the chance to check out the image quality but also because of the chance to see excellent pics from where other esato's live

Wow nice pic Merlyn101. I think that's the one I like the most so far.
Startail ~ I think your comparisons are a good way to go, though I think the P1i @ -1.3 is a little too dark. Can you try it at -0.7 or -0.3? Oh and I assume the photos were taken at the same time right? Looking at the two photos closer, is anyone else noticing that the P1i seems to be picking up more detail at the cost of noise. This could just be a focus issue but check out the "eye" in the wood just below the cross plank. Notice how the P1i picks up the "tree ring lines" with greater detail. But overall the P1i photo seems less smooth then the k800. Colorwise It'll be hard to compare since all our monitors are different, unless someone has ColorVision and wants to comment on it. Keep the photos coming guys...in the meantime I think I'll go and take some photos of my own with my P1i hehehehe ^^. |

Do you take landscape photos with the autofocus turned off? |

No, mine was taken with autofocus on, and I have been nothing but pleased with the quality from it so far.
All in all no complaints about the phone, it does exactly what is says on the tin.

I think the pics are damn good. To expect a camera phone to do what a camera does is silly. As far as comparing the k800i/k790a to the p1i , keep in mind that the k800i is a cyber shot phone, in other words it was designed to take really good pics. were the p1i is a smart phone with a really good camera. |

That Bournemouth photo looks horrible! The clouds and sky point to it being nice weather yet the photo looks dark. It also looks blurry and the colours look dull. Was this just a bad photo or is the phone to blame? |

Afraid to say the P1i has a completely rubbish camera. I have had mine for 2 days now and most unimpressed with the camera on it.
They could have used the same lens as the K800i... but they haven't. My old 2mp K750i took much clearer pictures alongside my old K800i.
The P1i is just not a great camera phone at all, which is the one and only downside to it. |

But the P1 is not a dedicated camera-phone, you should remember that.
