Don't get your hopes up.
Gizmodo could be right: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/ru[....]ncement-is-bollocks-273518.php

Sapporobaby might be right, most of the gizmodo arguments stand up, anyway not long until we find out.

Why does everyone around this place hate vodafone?
I can tell you why I moved to T-Mobile.
I was a Voda customer for about 5 years, I was getting bills of around £120 per month Masseur gave me a tip re T-Mobile and when I checked it out I found I could get Unbranded phones on T-Mobile with tarrifs that gave me exactly the same usage for about £42.50 a month nuff said I think!

We have had that for quite some while here in FInland. You can get a cheaper, subscription phone but without the branding. I got my N95 this way. The cool thing is I can also pick a plan, say 1000 mins and 500 SMS per month. As long as I do not go over these, I can pay the monthly service fee up completely and never see a bill.

I'm beginning to think this anouncement is fake too, as I can't find any info online to back it up and a search of the name 'Bill Condie' leads to a site offering adware...

Apple can enforce Orange not to brand it though. did it with the W800i... there wasn't a sniff of Orange on it anywhere...
I do hope all 4 nets get it. As much as I love this phone, I am not changing networks. Me and Orange have an understanding.. I want something, I get it.
really really do hope it's good news for everyone!

in my opinion the best thing for apple would be to go in europe the sim free way, and sell the phone as they sell the ipod
the mobile phone market in europe is so much more complex(with all those regions and carriers) that exclusive providers wouldn't make much sense

No offense dude but when it comes to 3G and mobile telephony, the US is the third world. Actually if it was a licensing issue for Apple regarding EDGE vs. 3G technology in their US version phones, they made the correct decisions. Why spend money on US networks that aren't up to snuff.

So in short dudes - Apple WILL be making an announcement tomorrow regarding the UK release date... and specs of the phone? Or was this just some bollards from some bored geek somewhere?
I reckon if Apple DID announce the UK release date tomorrow... along with the announcement that it WILL have 3G, they will well and truly get blasted by EVERYONE. It will be a marketing disaster for them. Although all in the UK will be happy |

Yes and no. The US does not need 3G phones because there are very few 3G networks. Europe is more mature so the phones would be welcomed.

I am soooooooooo tempted by the iphone - BUT only cuz Im a hardened Mac user. But I really do not want to be seeming to follow the hoards of people buying the iphone just as a fashion accessory
I was swayed by the P1i and W960 - but with SE not supporting Macs it's a major downer for me. |
