Convert M600 to W950! |

it seems a little drastic to flash w950 just to get the multmedia player and i dont think it would be worth it.
my main fear is that the qwerty keyboard wont work - the m600's best feature.
i am still impressed that it has been done tho - the best thing that could come out of this for me is if SE respond by releasing the walkman app to buy for the p990 and m600 |

I wouldn't convert my M600 to W950 regardless of what worked and what didn't, and I certainly wouldn't spend money on a walkman app either.
Having had both I think the M600 plays music and videos perfectly well for my needs.

Hm I guess it's a fake, W950i has 4GB minidrive, radio FM etc ... |

you don't think that the walkman app is even worth buying? i admit that i have never seen or used it but it does look impressive. |

visualisation, track display on standby screen, a couple extra ways to select your music... I can live without that

w950 has flash lite support while m600 doesnt.....altho i dont see any advantages of flashing m600 to w950 as we r using a symbian 9.1 platform device.....sooner or later we might get a similar third party software to walkman player.....radio is a useless feature....and m600 certainly doesnt have 4 gb of HDD why not buy a 1 or 2 gb M2 instead...i recently bought hpm-82 nd now the media player controls r easy to handle.......the media player application is written in the ROM drive.....perhaps we can somhow edit the firmware to have some features of walkman.......

I guess thats pretty much as expected then, since M600 has no radio.
so has anyone else done this yet?

Is the process reversible?

I just updated my M600s firmware and phone feels great and I don't want to ruin that by flashing...

As you have said you wana try it, I have got the method here which i have not tried by myself, not only because I don't understand fully the instruction, but also I dont have a clue what SETool is.
Anyway, here you go, the method:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Instructions on flashing your Sony Ericsson M600 to W950
Yesterday Engadget posted about morphing your Sony Ericsson M600 to W950 with reference to my site. Jason posted in the comments instructions on how to do it through Setool2 (flashing software). Here are the instructions:
1. want a walkman player in your m600 ? you can do it with setool
2.okay, what we need:1. zip archiver (winzip or pkzipc or smth)2. w950 and m600 firmwares from support
M600R6A13_CDA162011_1_ACPU_LL_Generic_World1.zip
W950R6A13_CDA162014_1_ACPU_NI_Generic_World1.zip
3. create directory , well, "cnv"
make inside 3 folders: m600, w950, m950 ( )
unzip firmwares into corresponding folders.
4. now, "the trick"copy next files from w950 folder into m950 folder:
R6A13_CDA162014_1_ACPU_NI_Generic_World1.armsoftwa re
R6A13_CDA162014_1_ACPU_NI_ROFS2_Generic_World1.arm software
R6A16R_CXC162075_ACPU_NI_ROFS1.armsoftware
R6A16R_CXC162088_ACPU_NI_ROFS1_EXT.armsoftware
copy next files from m600 folder into m950 folder:
R6A16R_CXC162074_ACPU_LL_CoreOS.armsoftware
633_91_R27A03_CDA162011_1_CCPU_LL_NoSIMLock_Generi c_World1.gdfs
R1A_M600_CCPU_GDFS_Update.gdfs
R6A03_CXC162098_CCPU_fs_LL_NI_Red_CID49_Respin.sof tware
R9F011_CXC162037_CCPU_HE_LL_NI_Red_CID49_Respin.so ftware
finally, zip m950 folder with winzip or other archiver.
5. flash resulted archive. if you want, check "process pda update files", that is NOT neccessary.
6. say thx to sony ericsson.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure if this is the same method they (Filip and other ppl from SEMania.Com) used. But if you are already so keen to try it, I am very keen to wait for your result~!!!
Good luck! |
