Hello, me again from earlier today. Taking the advice from mateyboy and his idea of using wd-40, what I did this afternoon was get a cotton bud, flatten one end, spray a bit of wd-40 on it, then clean around the joystick buy shoving the cotton bud in as far as it will go. Don't need to take the front cover off and invalidate the guarantee. If that doesn't work, spray a bit more wd-40 on it than before, and just keep going around the joystick over and over and over again. Its sorted out my sticky joystick problem (Ooer missus). For how long though, who knows? Obviosuly wipe any excess wd-40 that may've spilt onto the phone before using it.

Hey guys. Sorry to hear about the poor joystick. The problem with se joysticks is that they are 9 way so the diagonals make it very sensitive. They should just make it 5 way like every other manufacturer. Anyway, a quick solution which i use on my k700. On the main screen, lock ur keys, and rotate the joystick with a considerable amount of force several times. This loosens the dirt that might've collected. Hope that helps. Cheers

I've four months old W800 and I didn't experience any joystick problems yet. The joystick works PERFECT, but I'm taking a very good care of it, like not pressing it hard or TOOO fast and etc. You need to not torture it.

I wrote about my joystick problems earlier. Sent my K800i for service, they put in a new joystick, seems to work so far.

I ordered one of those knobs at ebay, supposed to be in the mail.

When did you order one of those knobs? I was going to order one on 30/8, but he ran our 6hrs earlier. I've been in touch with him, and he is in the process of making some more of the "through hole" ones.

According to the mail from eBay, "Tuesday, Aug 29, 2006, 05:00:48 PDT". He mailed me soon after this to let me know that it was in the mail, and today it arrived. (No pictures yet, but you have seen it in his ad.)

Fits nice and gives a much better feel to the joystick. I find it easier to get the joystick to move in the direction I want it to, without having to be too focused on what I am doing. Just installed it a few hours ago, have not used it much, but I like it a lot. Sometimes when trying to move down I get a click/press action instead, but I think that I will just get used to this gizmo and this problem will disappear.

There was a nice letter in the envelope, explaining just how to install it, and offering more help by mail in case of trouble.

Highly recommended!

have no problems for my w800i. had it for 5 months +. I use the no hole cap. Works perfectly for my w800i design which keeps 95 percent of the dust off.
