nirmalz absolutely right about the sound here.
i'm an ex w550i and 800i user and bou i can tell the difference.
the sound through the headphones is just bad and when i plugged in the hpm-70 the sound was bad no bass it was quite low as compared to its putput on when connected to the 800i or 550i...
and guys megabass was real cool...boy it made that thump and was good when u needed that sometimes...
also if possible can you people send some good eq settings general settings and ones with good bass....
and if it is possible to tell se to do smn about it..we definately should...
cheers

totally agree with u....

i just got a k800i, think of replacing my w810i.....but after using the hpm-72 on the k800i....gosh! not even on par with my previous k750i....and i agree that the volume is pretty soft...the max vol is only equal to w810i's 60-70%!. and the bass is as crappy as S60's phone.

Pretty upset abt this, think might get rid of it and go back to my w810i.....but just cant get over the look of k800i

Lets hope the next firmware release will address the issue...

Where did you buy ur k800i from ? I mean i would like to know the firmware region . Besides why dont u send an email to SE regarding this issue so that they may respond soon with a firmware release as i am sure that it is not a hardware issue because the Z550i that i checked out the other day has the same mediaplayer as awesome sound . If sony is knowingly crippling its music then they are not doing themselfs any good. I had bought my k750i at the time when it was launched and it never had any sound isuues if i remember.

R1CG001 may or may not be an improvement over R1CC003. However, if the volume is improved, it isn't enough (IMO). My T637 is still much louder.

I don't know about you guys, but i just switched my head phones to the ones from the W810 and the sound is as good as ever. Excuse my ignorance but what does Megabass do? does it just enhance the bass like it would if you max out the bass on the equalizer??
As for the volume of the K800i, IMO it's loud enough, i can hear the music out in the streets when i set the volume to only 2 circles, and the speaker phone is pretty good too. Then again, it might be just that i don't listen to much loud music, hence my hearing is more sensitive.

Hi,

Im new to this forum, and just bought a K800i as a "supposed" upgrade to my W800 and i'm seriously considering sending it back.

The MP3 player on the K800 is absolutely useless. Im quite picky with sound quality, but still, its far too quiet, and the quality is absolutely terrible.

I have used the bundled headphones and the W800i headphones, and while the W800i headphones are better, their far too quiet

So do I keep the W810 and buy a digital camera, or keep the K800 and buy an MP3 player lol

Oh well cant have your cake and eat it it seems.

well i guess that would depend on which you need more, camera's are much more expensive than mp3s but an actual camera is also much better than the k800's camera assuming you get one that's atleast middle classed. Whereas for an mp3 there's not much more an actual mp3 can do compared to a phone except it might have better sound quality. So basically it all depends on which you need, a high end camera and a mediocre mp3? or a good mp3 and a mediocre camera?

Oh and about the sound quality, it might also be because of the crappy K800 earphones, well they're not that bad, but the ones from the W series are much better, so i just use the W810's earphones and it sounds great on my K800

I am a musician, i have check today side by side my new K800i with my W800i and this last one is far more better sound than my new K, this last one is very compresed sound i hate the way it sounds, i even put the same songs on both mobiles to hear the diference, W800 is much better, is nearly as good as my iPod 30gb, on the other hand my new K is dull sound and not crispy, by the way I also love the Super Bass is a good idea sometimes in some songs, I hope they fix this bad sound on our K800i

I Completely agree, I had a K750i, and Sold it to my close friend and bought a K800i, and sound quality is soft compare to the K750i, it makes me jealous when we play music on our phones and my new next-gen phone lacks sound quality. Also, if I do recall, yes the K750i had a sound issue when it was released and then was later fixed on a firmware update. BTW I have software Verison: CXC1250214 R1CB001060608 if that helps anyone then great!!

SE BRING BACK THE MUSIC PLEASE!

P.S. the earphones that came with my K800i broke the 4th day I had them, and I want to know if there is some kind of warranty for that?

P.P.S. my phone SOMETIMES tends to restart on its own while I am listening to music on speaker and playing a game at the same time...SHITTY, but I know with a little fine tuning SE will make us all proud!

I've had that problem as well, i hope SE will come out with the new firmware, but i don't think it'll really help me as i have no warranty so SE won't update the firmware for me.

I agree it sucks.

Coming from the K750.
Less bass. I use a Fastport to 3.5mm audio adapter with normal earbuds.

I actually LIKED the file structure based media player from the k750.
You can play music directly from the list.
In K800 you see only the currently playing song. You can't see the next or previous one in the list.

Why the F*** use the whole screen just to display the currently playing song?! I can hear what's playing!!! Just let me see the rest instead of wasting all that space.

Also you cannot select a folder to play.
Titles are listed on alphabet. This sucks because everything gets cluttered because the id3 tags sometimes have different names. I want the option to list on filenames instead of tags.
This forces you to make playlists wich is time consuming.

Just not functional. Now i have to choose, camera or music player...

Some one else can welcome this guy, his attitude is discusting.

Calm down man, were sorry Sony Ericsson hasn't fulfilled your wan'ts! Some of the best mp3 players have the Now Playing feature : iPod, Iriver, Walkman etc...
Towards the playlist issue, thats been implimented for organization reasons. Don't you think it's un-organized if you have albums and genres all together. I think you just suffer from being a bit lazy!!! Which is rediculouse espacially on a phone!!!

BTW why is there another concerning the K800's sound quality sucking
