tytyn all the way!
but i guess it down to personal preference.
i used to be the proud owner of a p900, but a year aog i upgraded to the imate jam, and now would never go back! im waiting for the vario 2 (tytn )on t-mobile to be released.

Im getting crazy about this I have preorder a p990i and they have allreade ship my screen potector for my p990 and now maybe just maybe I want a tytn instead. For that reason it have much greater qwerty keyboard and have bigger screen and have faster wlan and already have a lot of program to the pda.
I will think about this today I will leave my preorder unchanged and se whats happen.
I realy liked my p900 and have no experience with qtek (htc). Knows a couple of ppl that use the older qtek product in work, and they dont recomend it.
se is allways se and htc is hmm i dont know...

Could you outline why it is you have chosen the PPC platform over the UIQ3? I am very curious as my experience has not been a good one. I am hoping that the P990 is the solution to my problems,

I have to say the HTC TyTn really only offers me the worst of both worlds. Having owned MSM devices I find them power hungry and prone to needing a reset far to often for my liking thats why I sold my IPAQ,
The tiny keybord offered on these devices is next to usless unless you have very nimble fingers. A touch screen is much faster for me, and as for asthetics I would not want to be seen dead using the thing in public it looks like a table tennis bat without a handle.
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

And you think the P990i's smaller keyboard will be any better? From what I've heard people say the TyTN keyboard is very, very useable and much better in feel an layout than the earlier HTC Wizard based designs.
I agree the looks are subjetive though. Personally I think HTC have done a pretty good job styling wise on the TyTN. IMO the HTC version looks better the the upcoming O2/T-Mobile and Orange versions. |

i dont know i guess i find it far more user friendly, and as i use windows on my laptop, so its far more easier to sync my outlook and transfer files.
also alot of quality software easily available and also more features included. im quite excited about the high speed hspda wwan capabilties aswell
im not saying the htc phones are perfect, but i had equal amount of problems with me se, including losing all my appointments, and the phone freezing up which was very irritating.
overall the se is better if u primarily use it as a phone, but the htc is superior as an all rounder in my opinion.

Couple of points:
- UK Total Mobile have 'reviewed' the TyTN and they say lots of good things about it but they did have problems with locking onto UMTS when a 3G Nokia phone had no such problems
- if the keyboard uses similar mechanism to the HTC Universal then it will be very good keyboard

The key board is of no interest to me at all be it TyTN or P910i, I never use them they are all to small to be of any practical use, I only use handwriting input. As for stying its a matter of taste, IMHO the TyTN has neither!

I have been palying with N93 today and I am making a point of locking on to 3G network and changing seamlessly from Std to 3G network. The Nokia is top class in that respect.
Just to make a point while waiting for the P990. N93 has an incedible built quality and the sofware never crashed once. I guess the symbian 60 3rd edition is well and trully stable now. The N93, apart from the camera not being as good as expeted (taking photos that is, because video is incredible) gives you a feeling of being a superior device.. It really oozes quality..Nokia wanted to demonstrate their prowess with this one I think.
So the P990 is now even mop\\re eagerly awaited....Lets see.. |

Might seem rediculous asking this but if i did take the plunge and buy a TyTN, my exisitng O2 Sim card will work in it no probs right??? Might be a couple o days until i get a 3G sim from O2?!?! |

no problem, the TyTN is GSM and UMTS and so a 2.5G SIM should be okay.
