On the India site also the coming soon sign on K790 has gone... I will be checking the availablity of the phone in the market in the next few days... |

Exactly. With only one seller, the market isn't exactly for the price-conscious buyer...Hopefully in a week though? I can't wait much longer!! |

It's at $420 on ebay, while the k800 is at about $400 flat. I expect (hope) for the 790 to dip below the 800 soon. I think a few more days should do the trick. If it hits 375, it'll be en route to my house :! |

K790 already released in Indonesia.
Its price is Rp 4,250,000 or about USD 464, while K800 is Rp 4,450,000 or about USD 486.

If someone sees a K790 in the store, can you check the firmware and see if the phone is quad band or tri? I really need to know if the K790i is quadband.

all specs I've read says that it's triband.
K790a: GSM 850 - 1800 - 1900 for Americas
K790c: GSM 900-1800 - 1900 for China
K790i: GSM 900 - 1800 - 1900 for the rest of the world.

Yes, it's correct. And add an EDGE makes K790 a quadband phone.

People tend to overcomplicate these things.
3G is faster. But Edge probably has better coverage.

that's right, but for countries where there's no 3G coverage, mine included, getting a 3G phone is a total waste. it's better to get EDGE fot that case then.

I just called a Cingular store rep. He said that GSM 850 was important (so will I have to wait for k790a!!) and that 3G was a better choice than EDGE (although his company's website espouses differently).
I'm currently quite confused. If anyone could help, I live in Washington, DC USA, I'm on Cingular and I'm between k800x and k790x. What is my best choice!!! |

for the second time I've read that K790 will bring some fixes and improvements over the k800 and it will have a different firmware. does anyone knows if this is true?

Yeah its released but was available only at one shop (in my area where there are dozens of mobile shops) at 21.5k... |
