Why not an 'entry level' or 'value' brand for SE? |

TBH, I think that comparing the J200 to the 1110 is not realistic. It might be better to compare the 6030 with the J230. The 6030 is much more 'luxurious' to me. I guess it's all objective, but I'd rather a reliable phone over a phone that seems ok for a while, and then falls apart. You still have to remeber that this segment doesn't want phones that last for 3 months. This segment is for people who can't afford or don't want a camera etc. and they also plan to use their phones for a long time, 2 years+ because all they want is to make calls and sms. What's the use of a shortlived J series SE phone if you can get a better and safer option from Nokia?

yep ok fair point...that was what i was meaning, but also when people buy a cheap phone - from what i know the majority of people would not look at how well the phone is made etc. they would go on looks almost totally.
i didn't mean 'luxiorious' in that way mate, i was meaning that basically - you get a better phone with Sony Ericsson (ok - not always...but they are like comparable fine...) - BUT you have to take more care over the phone. eg. using a case rather than being able to clip the case off and just simply put a new one on - how i envied 3310/3410 owners for that feature! - i actually bought a 3410 in a sale once on t-mobile for £40 - long time ago - and basically i got home, my dad said - why the bloody hell do you want that? - i knew i could unlock it etc. easily - and basically i had to take it back and then just say that the tariff didnt suit me...well have you ever seen old t-mobile?!?!?!? 30ppm to anyone if under £10pm topup! and i was in there all the time!

I am of the opinion that cheap 4k or even 65 k color screens should not be offered to comsumers. It is highly unusable in direct sunlight!
Monochromes on the other hand are waaaay better in this department. Color screens should be offered only if they can atleast be remotely usable in broad daylight..
Having used a T230 for about 10 odd months, i still remember the days when i had to "tilt" the phone at a certain angle to read stuff!
Coming to the T230 itself, I would say it was a highly underrated phone...mind you it was a highly capable device!
I can confidently say that no other manufacturer had a product (in its price range) that could have beaten the T230 feature for feature during its time.
It had every thing a guy who was introduced to the world of GPRS needed!
Consider this:
*E-mail client (POP3/IMAP Support)
*GPRS/WAP
*MMS
*EMS
*Pictures at 640*480 using communicam (This was when the likes of the T610 and the T630 had a vastly inferior camera quality!)
*1.1 mb of memory. (Its direct competitor was the 6610 which had only 640 odd kb)
*32 midi support
*amr as ringtones (not possible in the T610 I BELIEVE!)
*unlimited audio recording till memory permits.
What more did a wap nerd like me need back then??
T230 >> T610 >> Ngage QD >> N73 >> N85 >> Omnia HD >> And countless other review units |
