Hi guy,
I've just found this tread. I have recieved an notification form o2, so I'm going to give it a shot.

The only issue I have at the moment is that my contract was issued from o2 online and the o2 shop

Hopefully I'll still get a result, as they failed to inform me of the changes.

This type of term has always been in a mobile contract only because it has to be.

However, if you are within the initial subsidized contract period of 12 or 18 months (or whatever it is) the supplier has the legal right to ask for the handset back.

The conditions of the subsidised sale are that you fulfil the initial contract period and the 'disadvantage clause' does not override that. Strange but true. You'll tend to find that low spenders are asked for their phones back (as I was a couple of years ago although I didn't as I argued on Sale of Goods and Services) and high spenders are not.

Well I have to admit I'm currently in the intail stages of trying. I'm currently 6months downt he line of a 18month contract.

But I have to admit I do have a bit of leverage in the respect that I never recieved notification of these changes and that there service to me as been appauling!

Either way there's only one way to find out

Well I've had it out with O2 and they say that the increase in the cost to 07744 & 07755 numbers has nothing to do with them, as they are 3rd party premium rate numbers

Either way I got what I wanted out of them, which was a new handset

Hi All!!

The reason for my reviving of this thread, Is that yet again you can get out of your contract early with O2.

This is now due to the fact that they are removing Non Geographic Numbers i.e 0844 & 0845 from the inclusive minutes, which again is against your contract!

Term 8.4c of the contract states:

8.4 You may end this Agreement by giving us written notice if:
(a) We break this Agreement in any way and we do not correct the situation within 7 days of your request;
(b) We go into liquidation or a Receiver is appointed over our assets; or
(c) We increase Charges for your Inclusive Calls or your monthly line rental charge or change this Agreement to your significant disadvantage, provided you give us a minimum of 30 days written notice (and provided you notify us within one month of our telling you about the changes). This does not apply where the increase or change relates solely to Additional Services in which case you may cancel.

Now if you have never or rarely use these numbers O2 will probably pull out the "significant Disadvantage" card, but this must simply be ignored as they are not in a position to state whether or not you will be "Significantly Disadvantaged" in the future and cannot argue with you over that!

This will apply to anyone who has these numbers included in their monthly allowance and have received a text message or letter from o2 stating that the numbers will be chargeable from the 28th of September.

As you only have 30 days to cancel after receiving the text/letter you will need to act fast!

In order to cancel you can write, email or ring O2! or all 3!!

Writing in is probably best, followed by email. If you ring (as I did) be prepared for a lengthy argument!

Further Information such as addresses, email addresses and phone numbers can be obtained from this thread on the Hot UK Deals website.

PS: This is not just for business accounts as mentioned in the first thread on hotukdeals and also includes Car Phone Warehouses O2 customers!

This is somewhat true, although to be fair they have every right to change their T&C's without your permission, look at any phone contract when you sign it and you'll see that.

It came into effect a couple of weeks ago, I don't think it was from June/July.

They took it away for NEW customers from the 1st May onwards, but existing customers have only just been affected, so I don't know where this June/July thing came from.

Personally I don't think they should have given customers the option buy hey ho.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for.

Check the dates the post's were made and all will become clear!

What I don't understand is, why didn't O2 just let the 0845 numbers just run out till the end of the contracts that already have 0845 numbers inclusive instead of changing mid term as they must be losing quite a few customers this way!

I upgarded with o2 little while back and said to them before I upgrade am i correct in saying if i keep my TARIFF... I would still have 0845, 0844 and 0870's and they said yes...

This was with o2 Online.... Also not have had any TX telling me otherwise... If they start charging I will do whatever it takes to cancel with them.

Cheers

Right I just spoke to o2....

They have confirmed that if you have not got a tx or letter from them... then you ar not affected...

I clearly stated that if I get a large bill... I would eat them alive as they have sold me something on false pretences. I also asked her to make note on the system, that I have discussed this with them today...

Cheers
