iz prety sure the point of thev p800 bein delayed til jan was raised bout a month ago so y is everyone gettin wrked up now ???
the fact is guys the reason ur pissed off is that most peeps on here r extreme early adopters as in trawl the net 4 the l8est fones watchin from concept to release status. the general public will not be pissed off cos they didnt kno bout p800 till cpw had it in mag n now its just not in there nemore - the publis wont notice. the news is not a nail in SE's coffin.
put it in perspective this is only pissin off n bad news 2 those whove followed the phone for the last year !!
its not SE's fault they wish top release a fuly functional non nokia-esque sw bug ridden phone, they wish to release a working phone with all features ready for use !!
dont h8 on SE for doin the opposite to nokia and gettin things right !!!
nokia - releasing 22 phones next year, thats 1 every 2 weeks, how many will be shit but look pretty ?!?! true.

As the P800 is the most complex phone Ericsson have yet produced I'm not surprised they're having problems. I had a PF768 a few years ago, and the software bugs in it were absolutely jaw-dropping. Honestly, if they can manage to fit that many problems into an operating system of a few K, now they're getting onto this sort of complexity of phone, the potential for problems must be absolutely massive! |

So it means Microsoft can occupy next piece of communicators market with their Pocket windows mobile edition instead Symbian :-/

I personally would prefer PalmOs than symbian as I have a lot of palm software. I know symbian is held in high regard.
Doubt if I'll touch a microsoft phone but time will tell.
As far as waiting goes ... what else can you do?
SE may be shooting themselves in the foot but I don't think it will hurt them regarding this phone.
Nokia may be releasing new phones every other day but I still have trouble working out who their target audience is. I personally think their phones are more gimmicky than functional [a purely personal opinion].

The P800 is complicated... Of course!
But listen...
First: Christmas is the period in which everyone buys his or her new phone and no matter how good your phone is, getting it out right after Christmas makes sales drop.
Second: SonyEricsson has delays in releasing the P800.... Sony released some new Clies handhelds, a couple of new Vaio notebooks and some digital cameras... I sincerely believe the could have made it on time if they wished to.
They might have had some important problems, but Sony has the know how, THEY PRODUCE RIGHT NOW SIMILAR PHONES IN JAPAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even with Tft screens.
I am sorry, but there is really no excuse whatsoever for to delay that phone!
And you don't start to show the phone on electronic shows and then suddenly delay it for ages without telling anything to customers. You simply wait before showing it.
They could have released a version without memory stick duo and waited january for the one with memory stick duo... That would have made sense since the two releases would have been almost a year apart... They could have had time to make it a TFT 64k screen phone and so on... Now they have time pressure and have to release a non perfect phone. They had the possibility to release two phones by now (with market share increasing).
I wonder who makes 's business plans...

i think is going to do something very stupid! on the relase date there i think they will introduce the new version of the T68. causing that less people will buy the P800 and more will wait for the new T68. so very very bad! |

You could tell by the way they were touting around the conferences and exhibitions that they were planning a much earlier release (prob. late August, early Sep) which would have given them time to get some volume production ready for Xmas. To say nothing about a delay is foolish, people start to question your competence and it also makes them look like they don't know when the bugs will be ironed out.
The P800 could have been THE Xmas gift, as it is very small numbers of people might end up buying themselves a new year present!!!
Each new day brings announcement of a new Symbian licencee and a new handset to compete with the P800, I intend to show them my displeasure with my wallet... |

@rudeboymcc: You can get mp3 players a lot smaller, lighter and cheaper than the P800. And, a lot sooner.

I have no interest in this phone, but here is my 1 cent.
Delaying the phone is fine, but it is the silence coming out of that people have a big problem with.
It is true that most phone consumers will never know of any delay, but what about the tech-geeks, developers, Independent retailers, big retailers, Investment Analysts, shareholders?
All of these people, bar none, will lose confidence in the company over the 4 month delay.
I honestly believe the joint venture is ruining the name of 2 good companies.
The P800 will not be competing with the 7650, which we all thought it would, but with the 3650, which has a similar feature-set.
Putting aside any Ericsson bias for just a second, who do YOU think will win?

While it is true that delays cause people to lose confidence; I don't think 3650 is a worthy competitor to P800. It is a 7650 who as grown and been put through an uglifier-machine.
I think 3650 will fail miserably. It is just too big. If it was the size of P800, then maybe.
P800 competes with MS smartphone, the nokia communicator, pocket pc:s and palms. And there it blows the competition away.
It will be more expensive then both 3650 and 7650; but it will appeal to a wider audience. Hopefully.
And pray to god they release a mineral-gray version of it. It will look smaller and more professional in those colors. |

Well sorry, but after the wait for the original T68, then the upgrade, I am not doing it again!!!
I'm finding another phone, in fact the Sharp GX10 looks nice and has all the features i'll need.

Talked with some AT&T and SE reps today, the feildm tests here in America ( dallas, tx , to be precise ) were not good.
As far as the phone working it was fine it would call etc. But the issues lies within Symbian and a stylus, for some reason even standing in front of a tower they coudl not get the P800 to connect to the internet. !?!?!
I said well the 7650 is out and it has symbian, and they pointed out, do you see any nokia phones that use a stylus?
So the release date as far as here is bad!!!!! I want a P800 but i will have to wait or switch to a NOkia And i really liek the features of my t68i...
