Hy. I want to know your opinion. I have here 2 camera driver version:

aksd hybrid + few mod from me:

Witch one is better?
From what i can tell mine is better in normal light conditions and aksd's is better in dark conditions. Also average file size for mine is 520 and his is 350. |

@ everybody
Theres a problem in the algorithm that does'nt recognise the "Fine" setting.....thats why all pics are 350 kb.....I have not merged the both together properly it was more complicated than I expected....will post an updated hybrid soon. I'm extremely sorry

FOR TESTERS ONLY
I enabled Spot photometry...it has to be enabled in the driver....pity we cant enable it in the menu.....point at any bright source to check out how it works. I've also enhanced the sharpness...tell me if you can make out any difference.

We're working with you on this one, aksd.
Yep, I understand that the compression settings are located as marked, but then surely the "$c1 00" value still holds some relevance, considering all the other modders have been using this to adjust settings, with results?
PS: Did you have any luck sorting out the Fine mode glitch with your most recent upload? Or not yet, and this is just to take a look at spot metering? Cheers.
EDIT2: I notice you've changed compression settings to $s2 60 in the new driver, this does aid your other compression settings?

Cheers, u r doing a great job Akshay!
Somehow, i can't seem to get hang of the spot-photometry thing - it seems like the sensitivity of the CMOS is increased, and it shifts alarmingly between exposure values.
Is it possible to have multi-segment AF instead of centre AF?
Or, simply increase the range of the AF so that we can have a wider range of objects in focus?

Here's a comparision of pics taken by the 2 drivers...
The spot photometry comes to play in a big way in the hybrid driver, causing variations in the exposure values, especially in indoor situations, and also in outdoors, though not as noticably.
That apart, there seems to be a slight increase in sharpness in Aks's driver, but it causes the camera to crash while shooting high-detail images like heavy foliage etc in the fine mode.
There also seems to be a big difference in the white balance between the two drivers. While the "tweaked" driver gives a vibrant, warm shade, the "hybrid" driver causes a cold, bluish tint to the images.
Here are some comparisions.

Wonder what's the maximum potential of this.
And why isn't SE giving all it's best? |

I believe we are already very close to the maximum we can get. We have already achieved 95% compression in jpeg. Any further changes in quality causes camera to crash.
SE doesn;t wan't to take chances with crashing cameras and that's why it gives us higher compressions. Also, a 2mpx pic @ 300-400 KB is more than acceptable to an average user. Why waste space with 600-700 KB photos?
And as fas as vid-rec goes, it's been proven that we can't cross 13 FPS, so we are already at the maxx.
Hope someone proves me wrong.....
