I'm one of those members currently using a Nokia but for advice and tips on Nokia I go somewhere else like HoFo or one of the many forums where Nokia fans gather.

If we have a Nokia forum here then we have to have all other manufactures as well. Several other sites do this already. I think it works ok as it is. Esato was started for Ericsson phones which then evolved into se phones and i dont see why this should change.

jcwhite_uk makes a good point; if we have a Nokia forum then why not a Samsung forum? Or a Motorola foum? Esato would no longer be a Sony Ericsson forum then, it would be a general mobile forum. Unless laffen wants to take Esato in that direction I don't see that any change is needed.
Esato has no problem in attracting members, new members sign up every day.

Yeah, good point. I'm currently using a Nokia, but in no way, shape, or form do i want to see the very basis of Esato changed.

i agree... i reckon meths and scotsboy are right... to have a nokia forum would only make esato a mobile forum, not a SE mobile forum... |

and what if esato turns to a mobile forum? just imagine, if other brand fans would pop up here, esato would be the most respected forum on the net. imo this community is already a brilliant one, if we expand and keep together with other brands fans, huh...

@boba, imagine all the spammers that could come in.
Nokia's being more wide spread have more forums primarily catering to them, there are only a few that caters mainly to , and esato is is on top in that front. Why isnt that taken into consideration?

I can see where you are coming from but part of the uniqueness of Esato is that it is dedicated to just one brand of mobile. It doesn't, however discourage other brands from looking for help/advice.
How many others are there as unique and as diverse as Esato on the net?
If it became a general forum then it has lost that uniqueness, forever.
EDIT: Also, I can't for the life of me think why no other dedicated forum is out there for other manufacturers.
I mean, whats stopping laffen from starting POTATO (Ony Take A TOshiba Phone).

i think a simple thread for each would do the job....... i mean, we have 'other manufacturers' already... surely everything can go in there...
Meths, it would take soemthing away from teh SE community, ure quite right there... at teh end of teh day ' if it aint broke, dont fix it....
A disadvantage boba would be that its uniqueness of being a SE forum would be tarnished.... (isnt that waht meths was kinda saying too) |
