i like the chopstick analogy (if thats what its called)

my final words are: just remember when companies like se quote figures, theres i think 2 phones for every single person in the uk, and theres 6 million of us, so even if those 3 million were only sold in the uk, theyd still only make up 1/4 of the uks mobile phone population (at least thats what my limited memory remembers of the figures, this report was ages ago, the number of phones has probably increased a whole load by now)

My S700 doesn't hiss.

My mates W810i doesn't hiss.

I've just bought a W900i and that doesn't hiss.......!!!!!!

This thread has turned into a Walkman hiss bollocks rant and, there is already a "Walkman doesnt guarantee Music Quality thread" about this.

Regards

Goldenface

don't turn red face

anyway hiss or not hissing....if q2 2006 report which will be out next month
still have SE saying they have a few more million shipped due to high demand on w300, w700, w810 and the rest of the 2005 walkman series.

i just prove ppl don't hear it or don't mind it....their approach on concentrating on music is correct instead of going for slim.

To me it is always good to be having music.....everywhere. I can't imagine how boring for me when I was on a long flight from Asia to USA recently if not tht I have a walkman phone with me. The in flight entertainment didn't have all the movie or song I like and I have to rely on waklman phone for entertainment when I get bored on the stuff offered in the plane.

the next thing I do hope tht they develope is more function when the antenna is off...so I can play game...I can watch movie making the walkman term expand not only just on music but also on gaming and movie.

Walkman from the name of it....is just walk and man...i shouldn't be just limited to music only.....even though I know the history and the glory of this term is meant for portable music. But I guess it need to evolve

Anyway I do agree it is a bit in appropriate to use high quality music.

because even for normal walkman product....which I have...it never give good music quality...I am now comparing it to those serious hiFI stuff.

Of course the argument can always be high quality music for user on the go.
tht I will say what is offered is good enough to fall into tht category since basically we are not having CD quality but a compressed format which have certain frequency removed...yes those frequency might not be detectable especially when we are using small headphone...but definitely it give you something unique when you have it in a good pair of speaker and good hifi system.

one thing for ppl who is into software programming is...think about a way to get a spectrum analyser to be able to function thru java onto all those walkman phone...it is not something tht is a necessity but this eye candy is always ppl like.

also bring in more video playback function into the walkman player thru developement package available there...it will be nice....not sure what they have developed for the music player 2....but i do really like a better video player for walkman phone.

@c96sthl

I'd class as high quality music player. Better than the panasonic player my mate won in a raffle anyday

@bongzino

Really? There a lot of talented people on that developers site. That can't be a marketing stunt. has a good reputation as being an innovative company.

I think it is a crime if they made a false claim in their figure.

first....gartner and IDC data is what they referred and claim they get so much walkman phone out.

Unless this is a big conspiracy...which everyone in the market compete with each other don't mind their competitor from giving false data...then I don't think SE is bluffing.

remember that when you bluff....others can complain because those figure is showing how well the company is doing and give impact to the parent company stock...it also provide some influencial trend on network operator decision on choosing who they should get phone from. It is not tht easy for a phone maker to get business by network operator.....and tht's where the bulk of profit come from...else you won't see SE made some of those phone customized in outlook just for Vodafone.

In the end...whatever is discussed here is all about money. SE need developer help to improve so their business grow.

No body is going to work for free in the corporate work.
