Krussel,
You don't understand what BArtje try to say.
It's just when the phone is charging when ON, the background image stay.
It's like a monitor without screensaver.
You can burn some colours.
I don't know if that can happen. And after how much time does this can happen.
Me, I charge my T68 ON, because it's seems to charge better. Start the charge at the right place. |

I've asked Ericsson, and they told me that it didn't matter whether you charged the phone on or off |

When I charge my phone while it is on, the screen saver is active, so I don't really understand how people manage to see color while their phones are charging. |

I tested that yesterday.
But, I don't see the screensaver when I charge it ON.
Maybe I did not wait long time enough.
I will test that tonight. |

OOOPS I just checked to make sure and the screen saver does NOT become active while charging when the phone is on. Sorry about that. But the backlight turns off so I do not think that charging when the phone is on will be a problem for the screen |

Hummm.
I am not affraid for the colours.
I just think that when I charge my T68 when it's OFF, it can`t fill up the complete battery indicator.
I suppose that this "smart charging"(Phone ON) is better, battery last longer... (for me)
But I am not sure, I just would like a confirmation. |

For me, it doesn't really matter what charging method is better. I definitely buy a new phone in at most 1.5 years. I get rid of my phones before their batteries die. |

Brisefer, you understand me right! thnx, and sorry for the poor english
but i to think that when you charch the phone wile it's on the standby time is longer then when you charch it wile this is off. but i think it's not good for the screen... but will see what the problems are after a few months... (i hope not ) |

and the screensaver does come while you charch it when the phone is on.. but it comes when the phone is ready whit charching, so after 2, 2.5 hours the screensaver comes.. and if some people charch it and the screensaver doe come in after a few seconds, they have an other software... right?? |

Bartje,
"i to think that when you charch the phone wile it's on the standby time is longer then when you charch it wile this is off."
Yeah, that's I tried to say.
But I don't understand why?, if it's sure and if it's correct, it's very BAD !!! |

I think what people are experiencing with the loss of colour may be actually screen burn. IT IS possible for an LCD screen to suffer from this, just like CRT screens (I've seen it with my own eyes on laptops) Especially if the screen is STN and not TFT (I'm pretty sure T68's have the STN type).

Well.
I got an old r320s whit the newest SW. And i got a ultra slim(ericsson original) Li-Polym battery to my phone. The battery is about 1+ year old, and its allredy draind out.
When its fully chared i can make one phonecall and then its draind out. And i have allways (for what i can remember) chared the battery when the phone is ON. So for my expreience it cant be good to charge when phone is ON.

i doubt major that the screen will show burning.....or will burn it all.....
not even to mention what time frames we are talk about here.....i would like to see a 2 year old laptop with burned screen or display....i doubt it even when it runs 24/7/365 |

Interesting. But theoretically, when you plug in the charger, it will start charging and the phone still consumes energy to remain ON. Sure, a Li-Polymer battery might be much better in handling this, but it still has its limit on life-length. Maybe this negative effect on it isn't as bad as for the old batteries, but it sure isn't good.
This is unless the phone divide the energy from the charger, so the charging and the phone energy consuming both comes directly from the charger instead of passing through the battery first.

Mine shows 'Ericsson Optimized Charging' when it's on, is there any difference between this and 'Smart Charging'?

The word " Ericsson OPTIMIZED Charging", that means your t68 unit was made in Malaysia, otherwise it is made in Sweden (Smart Charging). Is it Clear? |
