the technology of this phone is still pretty advanced compared to . se only has 1 phone that has good video recording, the w900i. so it might take a while to catch up. and the N83 has so many functions. |

Yeah.. totally true; but remember: The N-series of Nokia are the most advanced phones at this very moment. So, if SE wil catch up with Nokia *on technology fron* they have to introduce a new line of phones, just as the N-series.
Look at the 'normal' phones from Nokia. Not all of them are advanced or have great features..well some of them, but not every phone |

As far as I know the P990 is not out buddy. And is no where near the N83 spec wise. I don't even think it has EDGE never mind 3.5G or wimax etc etc. Is a pda like any other. Actually worse because it will use a buggy, proprietary OS which will take moths to sort out and get decent software for it -pxx user will argue this points to death but unfortunatelly for them is the reality. The s60 is the os of choice for cellphones and windows for pc's. Greetings from South Africa. Mario :)

@mario2002 why do you want 3.5g or wimax so much? isn't the 3g good enough for you ?If you use the internet a lot on the go (through 3g) that doesn't mean that you have to judge every phone by it's internet capabilities

though this phone is the best between nokia and sony ericsson now, now sony ericsson still wins nokia at its greatest 3D card. All nokia handset (except N-Gage) has very bad graphic accel. since almost all Nseries handset has about same GPU, see the result at www.jbenchmark.com, compare it to sony w900 (which use as i heard : nVidia). so though now sony so called (lose), but for some people, SE is better than nokia with ...gb. Plus sony ericsson has better SPU compare to nokia. Maybe only some gamers like SE though it has (small) memory compared to nokia..... |

Well wimax will change the face of communication if implemented properly and you understand the implications. I will throw my sim card away and use skype or similar for the few phone calls I make and to monitor my tel nr. Here in South Africa is very expensive to use a phone (cell or otherwise) As for the speed of Nokia cells I only can say that much - video recording is one application where speed is CRUCIAL ! Comparing the video rec quality of a Nokia cell with any other brand name will answer your question. Greetings from South Africa. Mario :-)

um are you sure? the Ngage was around BEFORE or at the same time SE was formed; but for better arguement there is a blue&white nokia phone that was MADE for MMC mp3 playback before SE went to MP3 phones. even before the P800 was around.
2 Nokia is the FIRST manufacturer with a camera in ANY phone ... remember the 7650?! its a slider and hence why the N80 and N83 are so popular ... btw its the first phone to be a slider ... long before palm even made the Tungsten line of PDA's.
3> is the ONLY one your right on .... but SE wasnt the first to make a 2MP phone ... I believe that honor goes to Panasonic/SHarp .
If you dispute look at the public launch dates of any phone ... SE launching or Ericsson launching the T68 with an attachable camera is no contest because it sold seperately as an attachment! Some bundles but NOT in every worldwide market.

The n83 looks like a great piece of kit! ITs very similar to the n80 tho!

The n83 is a 'double slider'. Very nice idea indeed. Another first as far as I know. The top keys are for music play/control only. Also been a s60 cell just about any usefull audio/video codec can be implemented. Unfortunately it does not look like it will have wimax. 'Turbo' wifi (supped up g mode) is a strong possibility thou. I have no idea/rumors about the battery. On the other hand a 1A (1000mA) will come out for the N80 before the end of this year :-) Batt technology is really improving quick thous days. Greetings from South Africa. Mario :-)

Pretty much so. They will be assembled in Hungary at first. The Nokia chap (from hungary) was right with previous unofficial announcements. Would'nt surprise me because the techno is there just Nokia opted for the cheaper/less 'cutting edge' one. Also sometimes next year the first wimax cell will be presented (nokia). I very much doubt the mass production will commence in the same year :( What a pity. I hope I am wrong on this one :)
