W800 Walkman Player hissing noise problem: software or hardware? |

"The noise in the background is because an earlier update which included a fix for digital distortion. "
So what do they mean?
If we update to one of the first fw and then go to the latest, will the hissing noise be gone?
Or did they mean that one of the latest fw have flashed something in the phone that make it impossible to fix it?????????

Do you really expect me to be satisfied with your answer and leave
this issue just like that?
Do I need to remind you that we are talking about a noise problem on a
WALKMAN branded phone? WALKMAN. What do you expect people to think of
a WALKMAN device? Something that plays music with background noise?
How is it that W550 and W900 don't have this issue? And why fix
'digital distortion' when even with it we still end up with poor audio
playback?

I had the chance to test two w800s, one with R1AA008 and one with R1L002. I used the same memory card and the same mp3 songs in testing. The R1AA008 phone had the terrible hissing sound, the R1L002 – nothing! It is no noticeable noise when using the headphones that comes with w800 (same headphone used for testing on both phones). It is, however, some constant low background noise when the WALKMAN is turned on, using other headphones (Creative) on R1L002. Doesn’t really matter for me, I’m very satisfied with the w800 in-ear-phones.
I, off course, own the terrible R1AA008 phone. How do I downgrade? Will a SE service center downgrade? Can I use http://www.davinciteam.com ? |

I have also this problem.
As soon as I launch the mediaplayer, I can hear this noise. It's clearly not related to my files, as I hear it without reading anything.
But but but what really surprised me was that I don't have this noise anymore with another headset! I have it with another Sony headset (same brand, coincidence???), but with another headset, I don't have any noise, it's crystal clear. Same on my computer, if I plug one of my two Sony headsets, I have a noise all the time, pretty annoying. If I plug the other headset, I don't... This third headset is a cheap one, maybe it's just not good enough to render this noise. But I will try to find another one and do more testing. Also, did someone try to connect the w800i to his computer, record the output, and check about the noise? That would be another interesting info.

I noticed exactly the same. I never used the HPM-70 earphones and used some 25€ sony earphones. I never experienced any hissing. Sound was christal clear. I recently bought Sony MDR-nx1 earphones and suddenly the hissing was present. The sound quality with these earphones is much better, but now the hissing is annoying. The hissing doesn't go away at high volumes, it's still there. If you listen to a song with a silence break, you can hear the hissing at high volumes to. I the tried my HPM-70 earphones again and I can hear the hissing to (but not that loud). I tried all earphones with my NM-E99 Walkman and non of them produces any hissing at all.
I am wondering if the hissing problem has anyting to do with the headphones that are used. (a different frequency responde, higher or lower impedance, higher sensitivity ...)
I was saving some money to buy sure or ultimate eares headphones, but I don't want to buy them if the W800i keeps hissing with them. You don't want to spend 250€ on top class earphones and the hear the hissing all the time ... |

i just got in with k750/w800 bandwagon and i'm surprised to find such a problem..
my k750 flashed to w800 also suffers from this problem..
I current have R1AA008 and I'd like to go back to R1L002..
the thing is..i've never flashed k750 myself...the conversion from k750 to w800 was done by someone else..
i was wondering what are the ways i can downgrade my firmware..
i do have the factory usb cable ..does that help?
what am i suppose to do to downgrade? thanks.. |

I had my W800i S/W updated from R1N035 to the R1AAOO8 and also still do exprience the "hissing/static/crackle" noise in the Walkman mode or hissing during a call but i don't really see that a big problem for me and won't consider to update the S/W to the newest R1BC002 as i am having no other problems with the phone at the moment.

weirdly enough, i don't experience this issue when i have headphone inserted..
only hiss i hear is when i unplug headphone and let my cellphone speaker to do the mp3 play.
doesn't seem like an issue since i doubt i'll enjoy hearing my music through its crappy phone speaker.. |
