I think 1000 smsīs is more than enough, but there always be some guy asking for a million at least...i just donīt understand all the fuss about this...
etaab, i donīt believe k800 will have the same CPU has k750...remember it has true multitasking, youīll be able to run several java apps at the same time...it implies a more powerfull hardware

Oh dont get me wrong, i dont think it'll have the exact same hardware (mind you i wouldnt put it past SE), but i dont think it'll be as powerful as we all expect it to be, which is i reckon SE didnt implement higher resolution video recording.

Ok...but thatīs my point...the hardware has to be real powerfull to enable runing several java apps at same time, plus the media player/radio or camera, plus normal phone functions...you see, sometimes when i have a more "heavy" java app running on background, the k750 suffers a bit...imagine having 3 or 4 at the same time (opera mini + 3d game + messenger + mobiluck for example)

Where does it say it can handle more than one Java app at once ?

look in the multitasking part of the whitepaper + eldar review
Quote:
| The previous handsets by Sony Ericsson supported only multitasking you could play a Java-game, listen to the radio or player and type a message at once. Though these devices made one more step forward user is able to run two Java-applications at a time and switch between them. |
|
but i made a mistake...thereīs a limit for 2 java apps runing at same time, and not 4....even so, some more power is needed

RE K800, I wonder if the multitasking is true enhanced mode multi-tasking or if they just have two hardware midp platforms (two separate chips)?
Still it's better than nothing. The qcif video is disappointing, very disappointing, but like etaab I expect there is a hardware basis for this. Also, if there are two separate java platforms, then that would explain how it could have the same base cpu (or gpu) as the K750 but still running two java sessions.
However, the good just keeps getting better:
3.2MP camera (we all new that anyway)
1000 sms's (this will do me)
2x Java app multi-tasking
WMA, WMV and Real support (as Arez says, cool!!)
Bluetooth PAN support (YES, Whoot - who needs wifi?)
All in all, I really can't see any phone other than this one to be my next phone.

The two main drawbacks for me right now conerning the K800i is the video recording, and i wish they'd given the phone a Symbian smartphone OS like the Japanese FOMA stick.
Regarding running two Java apps at once, i get the feeling it'll cripple the phones operation, just like it does when you minimise a Java app on the K750i of any complexity whilst trying to do something else.

Just noticed that the K800 uses the same capacity battery as the K750, 900mAh lithium polymer. Just my two cents, but does anyone remember the other time SE didn't upgrade the battery capacity (T610>K700), although that time the battey was decreased for some odd reason. With 3G and a xenon flash, the least SE could have done would be to update the battery.

If you check in the whitepaper, it says they have the same battery, but the K800i will have poorer standby and talktime.
So yes, you're right, another reason why it'll disappoint.

You say the video recording is qcif, what was the video recording on the w800? I know even that wasnt that good, say as good as the nokias. The n70 record mp4 at 15fpc. but video isnt the most important ting to me. Remember this camera phone is one of the few infact probabalt the only newish camera phone to have a camera lens cover.

Yes I consider the lense cover quite important. Basically, it provides instant access to the camera function without having to unlock the phone. I couldn't do without it. It shat me to tears unlocking the K700 to take photos and I don't wish to go back to not having an active lense cover.
