I might contradict myself a little here compared to my previous post in this thread and say that one prototype I have always really wanted, purely on style, is this one
even 4 years after I first saw it, it makes me drool!

If the device had the facility to switch from GSM to PSTN networks inside the house I think they could have a winner on their hands . A good friend of mine just paid over £340 for a BeoCom 6000 (Yep I told him he was a mug as well!!) so there is a market for designer home handsets this would be a "Stylish addition to any home"
ps, I would like one just for the looks alone, sorry!

I recon it might be down to the material, testing and production run costs involved in producing it, Serveal parts of the device look to me as though they would have to be made from either a metal alloy or carbon fibre, this is mainly due to the length of the pullout portion this would need to be strong and have a fairly sturdy open and return mechanism and given the current "life time" of a device in the market they would have to sell a hell of a lot of them to get their money back
but I do agree its a wild looking thing!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

Not that I would ever pay mega-money for the sake of form,(albeit a very attractive form...) but this phone just seems to ooze class, IMHO. |

Yeah, the SONY thing annoys me too.
Edit: Maybe stupid designer thinks Sony Ericsson is just the Branding and SONY is the Company.

I read Esato's article say: "Could this be the answer to Vertu?!?!?"
Obviously not! Like asking: would a Hyundaï coupé be the answer to Ferrari...
Come on, be serious.
Vertu is about beautiful handcrafted phones, using exclusive materials etc.
This black diamond looks like another piece of plastic. The only thing it could pretend to compete with is for example Nokia 8800. Sure, the design is interesting, but certainly does not stand out like a Vertu does and certainly cannot pretend to be exclusive.

Looks like the materials and shine of the Sony PSP.
Not the most attractive with that huge bump in the middle of it. And no optical zoom either...
But would seem a definite competitor of the 8xxx series but with a bit more high spec features.
