the fact that N-series are smartphone already set them apart from other phones. Add to this 3G/EDGE/wifi/harddrive/tv make them unbeatable. |

Anybody any idea when the N80 will be available in the Netherlands, or any idea where to get in beforehand? I don't really trust the auction sites - don't want to be scammed and give my carddetails. |

If the 6280 can record like that the N80's gonna blow everything else away with the 3mp camera!!!! It's already being advertised on the Carphone ~Warehouse's website, so I imagine that means it will be out in the UK within the next 2-3months... Thats how it was for the K750...
Cheers

n80 gonna have the same batt as n90 ( 760 mah ! ). its a really bad joke from nokia... i dont wanna charge my batt every 12 hours, had to suffer it with n90 aswell. so, thats it for n80 for me...

Hey Boba, I know you are more clued up then me but haven't you heard that apparently the N80's battery size and form is about the same as the N70's. Now the N70 can use the 1amp+ QD's battery which means the N80 should be able to use it too. With a promissed lower power consumption and over 1.amp battery I don't think 'ON' time should be a problem. :) Greetings from South Africa. Mario.

it doesnt comes up on the size of the fone, more of the size of the screen ( high-res ) and next to it 3g system takes way more power then 2g. that fone wont survive at normal usage more then 1 day imo ca 1h talktime, some music and a bit of surfing, as i see and u can put it on the charger again.

That's obviously a big disadvantage. Actually all the new 'smart phones' seem to suffer of poor batt. time. Huh, where is my 3310 :-) Greetings from South Africa. Mario :-)

yes, but donnow why... at least 6630, 6680 and n70 got a pretty good one. n90 and n80 got the worst one ever, what is pretty weird, cos put even a stronger batt in 6310i...

first of all, the longest lasting of the lot in terms of batter power, IS the N70, comapred with the N80, the n70 is a solid bar phone meaning no extra parts, the battery consumption is majorly reduced due to the screen being smaller, which requires less power, and the n70 is a well built phone, currently the n70 still has many firmware bugs but its usable, the n80 will have alot of problems, theres still bluetooth problems with it and wifi issues, also to everyone who says 3mp is good, is an asshole, the n80 uses a cheap CMOS sensor, so the quality will suck, a CCD would have been better, most dedicated digital cameras use CCD and the quality is vastly improved,
the wifi is only 802.11g which sucks anyway, thats not even what I use at home,
let me state a few facts before anyone goes out to purchase this at £500 when it's released, the phone will be very expensive
1) currently in the uk theres not really any decent wifi networks, theres some but they charge, and it depends what your doing
2) using wifi and tv and 3g will suck a huge chunk of the battery reserves, public wifi networks wont be popular until at least 2009, similar to mms, when mms was first new no one used it, now everyones sending mms, not to the same extent as sms but still
3) n80 naturally has high power requirements, sure some of the features are very nice, but its pointless without a decent battery
with the n70 in terms of comparison, the n70 lasts me a good 3/4 days of general usage, sms's, mms's, general browsing of wap, transfering pics through bluetooth, taking some pics, and a video here and there, etc.
you will receive no where near that with the n80 unless you disable every feature of the phone, and leave it and DON'T TOUCH IT, which defeats the purpose, nokia do this sort of false/trick advertising in terms of battery power to sell
also the n80 was tested in moscows networks, the phone didnt last more than 18 hours, of general>good usage. also the maximum call time they got was 2 hours, the phone has alot of sexy features but its counterproductive as the phone will require cosntant charging, 2 charges in the same day is not practical and damages the battery
why i love my n70 is because its a solid bar, i wont worry about being extra careful in case "the slide " snaps off because it doesnt have one, the battery consumption is reasonable at best, and ill never use public wifi networks until they are next to free and the technology is way improved, and ILL NEVER use it at home to access the net because i have a pc to access my wifi network. ill most likely never watch tv on it because tv sucks on small screens, id rather wath it on my 32 inch plasma cinema tv at home,
whats the point having these features on your phone if your never going to use them and in the near future when the services can be used from your phone, your phone will be ancient, phones go out of date roughly 1 year after you purchase them, i buy a new phone every year because the market place is flooded with phones every year, what attracts me to a phone is the battery power,
think about all this before you rush out to buy one |
