its just out of control. for me, personally. a phone is many things but its just pathetic to use it as everything, its lazy, and doesnt do a good enough job!

Of course a camera is better than a phone. A flashlight better than a phone, etc, but you get to have it on you more often than those items. The more features the better... |

It would be good to use my W800i as a TV remote, think of all the fun I could have with it !
My dad would think his TV was going crazy! |

If the phone could be used as a remote (which it can't due to the range), then it could save $100 on buying a programmable remote. A manually programmable remote is many times more useful than a normal remote.
You could have different profiles set up for different TV's around the house. No more searching for this remote or that. A programmable remote means a common remote interface between all the IR controlled equipment in the house. That's ONE remote control for everything. including tv's stereo, vcr, dvd player, set top box, and more.
Vanquish, I understand your point of view, but I don't think it's necessarily valid for everyone. For example would I carry a torch, camera, mp3 player, calculator and small games console around with me everywhere if I couldn't use my phone. No I wouldn't, yet those functions I use on my phone daily.
So I don't think it's a pipe dream at all, however unfortunantly it's just not feasible due to the range. But if it was I'd be the first to use it
