Your Idea Of The Latest K750 Firmware |

I would like to see two things implemented.
I whant to have RadioText together with the existing RDS but i don't know if that should be supported be the RDS decoder chip used inside the phone.
The radio is not activated without the hands free connected but it should be very easy to use the existing wires inside the supplied USB cable as antenna even if a new USB cable should be produced with a smal capacitor inside to isolate the antenna pin from the DC if there is no such thing in the RF part of the receiver.
Aven better it could pass analog audio to the line-in of a computer to use (the computer) for radio recordings or just louder radio playback. That of coures would make the cable bulkier....
Mabe an application (voice synthesizer?) to "say" the time for people with vision problems.

Just noticed this comment re Opera Mini, maybe you are holding down on the joystick to get to the desired place on the page u are viewing. Did you know that you can just move the joystick right to scroll down one complete screen size if you know what i mean. I find this easy enough.
Sorry i cant really comment on anything else really as i dont have a K750i, but i wholeheartedley agree with @numb there are a lot of silly ideas and requests in this thread, however there are some more reasonable and feasible ideas. |

This thread seems to have gone off track slightly and has become more of a wish list, so on that basis I'd like to see improved and new implemented voice recognition functions.
You could start with simple things such as Keypad lock on/off, menu navigation etc and then move into voice recognition texting or email functions.
Just a thought.........

Wrong thread perhaps, but I couldn't find a W800i specific similar thread?
I would love my phone if it wasn't for these extreme annoyances:
* The noise/hiss/static that is present when you are using the Walkman part of the phone (even when you are not playing a song. Makes soft music and audiobooks play with unbearable distortion, but is heard all the time with all music.
* The loud click between songs.
* The noisy distortion when listening to FM radio even if perfectly tuned, perfect reception conditions, low volume, etc.
* The low 'resolution' of low-end on the volume scale, especially when using the very responsive included heradphones. The current scale is 0-8, with half-steps between 1 and 8 and complete silence at 0. I would like 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2.0, and then the normal half-steps up to 8. (Perhaps some higher settings too, which would make it more usable with less responsive headphones).
* The low max-volume when talking on the phone, often impossible to hear what is said on the other end even with max volume, both with included headphones and without headphones.
* The unability to play songs from the same album (in the same album folder) in proper song order unless I use the Disc2Phone software (which doesn't recognize *.mp4 files) and then use the 'as created' order mode.
* The huge font that is used for most things, but especially annoying in the calendar, where it is awkward to get an overview of the events for a day. Why does the 'new meeting' thing have to take up valuable screen area, put it in a menu.
* The unability to use the 'main screen' of the phone for anything usable. Is it really not possible to customize it except for 'them' crap? Where has SE been for the last years... I want my upcoming calendar events to be shown there (preferrably being clickable for direct access), like I have been able to on my last 3 phones. Could it be so hard to make this an XML (or similar) page for the user to do something more useful with the main screen on the phone than showing an image, this is not a kids' phone, right?
* The unability to use the phone as a good portable USB-memory device, because of the need to install special drivers.
* The unability to play radio through the speaker (with headphones/antenna connected of course).
* The phone wntering camera mode all the time, since it only takes a very very very small movement of the shutter opener button to go into camera mode, even when the phone is in keylock mode!
Especially the sound quality issues are making me mad. This is a device that is marketed for it's use as a portable personal audio player, and the sound is of really bad quality. Scandalous..
Would have listed the main Memory Stick writing bug as well, if I hadn't bought a dedicated device to rok aorund this. Thanks SE for having to pay that extra money to have a usable phone..
I would also like to be able to run more than one J2ME program simultanously, or at least be able to use the camera while I have another program running. But I understand that this is not common with J2ME devices.
Being able to use the 'walkman button' like it works on the K750 would be nice too.
Perhaps there is something here that I could fix if I were more of a poweruser? Please tell me!
(I use the R1NA005 firmware.)

-Minute Minder : Something my old T28s had,But my K750i doesn't!!!although a very simple feature, still very helpfull specially 4 those who talk too much.
-File Manager : when there's an incoming item (e.g. by BlueTooth),you cannot choose either saving it on the phone memory or on the MS Duo.
-File Manager : when u connet the phone to pc and then browse the memory (e.g. with MyPhoneExplorer) you can make as many subfolders as you want ;and although you can view their contents from phone's file manager ,but you still can't make any subfolders or copy files to any subfolders.
-Calls information : the phone doesn't show call duration, even for dialled ones. |

For most of you, outhere:.... you're wrong!
There is nothing to be changed in volume of mp3 or conversation.
1) If it's to change, i will add "USB charge-ON/OFF"
2) If it's to change i want back the option with "my friend" from K500
3) Maybe they can implement "Push to talk" tehnology
4) PASSWORD on FILES.. that's a good ideea thought

Well, the lowest volume when listening radio or mp3 is still too loud for me when I'm in a quiet area... After half an hour I feel like my head will explode because it's definitely to loud! There should be at least one more step between the 0 and the 1 sound level!

x I would like that when I get a forwarded call, it says so on the screen while its ringing, not just the first moment. (When I am not by the phone when it starts ringing, I have no idea it's a forwarded call.)
x I would like to use the groups for more than just sending SMS to several people. For example have the same ringtone on a group.
x When I get a SMS from someone I don't have in my contacts, I would like an option to just add dem directly in the list. Now I must first ring them, then add them from that list.
x I get a message on the screen when I go to silent mode, I would like the same when I go back to normal, because the symbol is so small it's not easy to see it's changing.
x On my last phone (not SE but still) I could easy connect to the computer, and take backup of all the files. Especially for the contacts, I liked that, not having to sync with Outlook. Just copy all folders, inkluding contacts. I would like that on this phone too, or that I somewhere can find a guide to how I do so, if it's already possible...

A few comments/questions:
What are you on about videobitrate ??
It has allready been fixed in R1N035 - videobitrate is now up to 200kbit/s which is quite adequite for a 176x144 video resolution, it equals 600kbit/s on a 352x288 video resolution.
No need for higher videobitrate than that.
If anything should change with videorecording, it should be the codec used for video and for audio. This should rather be mpeg4/aac instead of H.263/AMR but thats not possible on the current hardware platform, thus this cannot be changed in firmware so youl just have to wait for next platform to come out.
Improved camera ??
Its allready the best 2mpixel mobilecam available, if thats not good enough, buy a digicam.
Choise of using the radio without the headset which acts as antanna ??
Now what choise would that be ? A radio needs antenna to function. You cannot have a choise of using it without antenna. Or do you mean playing through the phonespeaker instead (with the headsetantenna attached) ? If thats what you mean, then I can agree.
Mp3 Volume to low ??
If I turn my volume to the loudest, it will damage my ears. When I turn it to the loudest I can stand listening to, its still 2 notches from the loudest.
No, S//E should definately not increase volume on mp3 and thus be partly responsible for damaging the hearing of all those kids that cant get it high enough. It is allready well documented how much damage mp3 players are doing in that area. If you are hard of hearing and need it louder then invest in a different headset that are more efficient. Then its not S//E's fault if you damage your hearing.
I think its very responsible of S//E to keep it at a resonable level.

How would a video 176x144 200kbps would equal a double-sized video with the same bitrate? Doesn't it half the way into 100kbps instead of 600kbps?
And SE zould indeed include a safe-function that you can turn on/off that limits the volume, but some ppl wish to refer to the k750i speaker as a alternative for their music jukebox, and why not? That i say for the SPEAKER, though mp3 would also be fine for some.
I understand that some things may look like timewaisting and not have such high functionality grades, but why not look at it as something extra on your k750i?
/edit:
The font increase would be a good thing also, since some people have a faulty vision (like me), and not always have the chance to wear glasses (like... me! )

Not much really.. but:
1. Better calendar, itīs long overdue that you should be able to set a recurring event without using Outlook IMO..
2. Profiles.. what if i want different ringtone at home than office?..
3. Minute minder, i donīt know if you can activate it via 3:d party sw like in the K700. Should be there from the start anyhow.
4.call speaker volume.. in the old Ericssons you could go from soft to way too loud. I canīt see a reason why they abandoned that idea?
5. Abandon joystick in favor of navpad a lá S700/z520
Cheers!
EDIT: Sorry i got carried away and listed non-fw things as well.. Oh well, disregard the non-fw issues please

I agree about the recurring event. I also think 9 minutes between repeating alerts is too much.
I would also like to be able to have a special ringtone for those people who call me that aren't in my contacts. (Or perhaps for those who calls unidentified.) That way I don't rush to the phone for nothing. I like to know who's calling before I answer.

Guys, how about an SMS reminder? I remember with my old Motorola Pager it would beep every minute or so to remind you of unread messages. I don't know of any cellphone that has this very useful feature. |

@ stelvio
My old Samsung N-620 had the SMS reminder feature.
@ ThreeX
How could you "activate minute minder via 3:d party sw in the K700."??? |
