peeta: my uneducated guess is "enterprise" as these things come out of that branch of Nokia.
about the camera, I think video calls will be as widely in use as MMS messages so there is really no need for it. I have been put off with all other mobile cameras except k750i, and even that is not the quality I would want. So in other words, I would rather have phone that is 2mm slimmer than carry that worthless camera with me.
I hope the processing power matches the increased screen size as well, it's 4 times what it used to be so that makes me wonder if S60 system will be even slower than before. |

some simple minded people like arez, who don't work in serios business enviroment simple don't get the need of business to have a camera less and feature rich phone.
if you happen to be in the City or work some big company, you would mostly see people having by majority nokia 6310i, blackberries, nokia 6021, camera less SDAs and Treos etc
and corporate sector was begging for such phones if there is a demand nokia decided to jump in
the P990i with camera is toward general public, but wont be that much successful as this new Enterprise serie from nokia
I for one would also love to see a camera less E70 ...

it is a good job by nokia but i still think they felt they had to release these phones because they are worried about se |

I can't help but agree that so many ppl only see the video calling aspect of 3G, which is silly when you consider the far greater speed implications. As for saying that Nokia has tried to emulate SE by bringing out the 6630 and 3250, yeah right, dream on... Why would they bring out Symbian to compete with Java?? And how can one make a statement to the effect that Nokia rises to challenge SE?? Usually it's the underdog that challenges the leader, not a manufacturer in 3rd or 4th spot |

yes good point but even a market leader can see things from competitors and rivals one other thing dont know if anyone has mentioned it there is a 2 mega pixel cam on the e70 |

aquila2, i know all that
iīm talking about the normal esatonian...the normal guy that comes here to talk about phones
98% of US wonīt buy a phone without a camera right now, or a 3g phone without 2 cameras
So, what for us phone phreaks, that want EVERYTHING there is in phones, including of course, a great photo camera and eventually another for videocalling or videotransmission, so, what all this E phones have more than the p990, that really matters???
i do not contest these phones are excelent for certain people, but not for the majority i see here everyday...
so itīs funny to see all this guys that are far from being professional in anything except in buying expensive phones (most of them), to brag that this new e phones trash p990 lol
so, no need to tell me over and over that thereīs a reason for the absence of cameras, and videocameras, i know all that...

David, i agree, Nokia certainly incorporates the best of what their rivals offer. Regarding their cam quality though, SE kicks Nokia butt with regularity. It's the one major aspect that they need to pay serious attention to, imo. I shudder when i remember those comparitive pix between Nokia and SE on gsmarena. The Carl Zeiss angle seems to have been more marketing hype than anything tangible.

yeah they do kick ass in the photo department what strikes me is se dont have as much money as nokia but they still ahve to make more and more effort to get martket attention se seem to be accepted as leaders in technlolgy nokia are very worried i think stilll think nokia have shown their hand to early again se will have their k800 or whatever next year and the game of catch up will being all over again which is great for use the consumer although it is making it more difficult which to chose |

2 arez: ehm, you still did not get it ... this phones have its OWN target group for which they are _perfectly_ suited. you are right that those phones are problable only target for this 5% of customers, but _this_ is the point, boy
and those 5% is HUGE market in termes of money ... and high margin area, that every company dreams to tap by its portoflio and nokia happens to listen to this _rich_ audience.
as for question why those phones will wipe out the new P series. well, P is too expensive for a regular joe .. and companies tend to buy things that _do not_ have certain extras like cameras that are so suitable for industrial espionage
so logicaly, companies will lean toward to business phones rather to some funky multimedia device like p990. and since the sales in corporate secotor is vital for phones in this class, p990i might happen not to be the best seller particulary due to the camera it is simple too much expensive for a regular joe and not that much interesting for the corporate folks
not to mention, there will be almost no SW for the p990i since it is a completely new platform. new system (symbian 9 & UIQ 3) which is not compatible backwards by any means, not even resolution is the same... this is a BIG drawback ..
so arez, as you can clearly see, the point of these devices is NOT targting the 95% of people but only the 5%

Not only that E60 look like T630....E61 look like Motorola Q
I haven't read all the functionality of the product.....however the ID is boring as if suddenly Nokia have no more innovation in ID....what next? A clam shell (flip phone) with loop antenna like SE Z520? |

this E series won't kick P990's ass in any way. I think it's on a different segment that is more focused on connectivity. but i think 3G without videocalling is just dumb. If i needed a fast connection, i'd turn to wifi (which is available) rather than burn my money on 3G that costs by the kilobyte!
The designs are obviously ripped off from the t630 and the moto Q.
I like the screen specs though but numbers don't amount to optimization.
