You quote an awful lot you know

But yes as I also mentioned I feel that camera/smart phones are moving forward greatly, so maybe AM radio will be forgotten and people will use GPRS streaming instead..its not free like radio but we never know in the near future. [addsig]

As far as convergence goes....the more the better
And people are always bound to want more convergence features ( me included) , be it now...or be it in future.. take the P910i successor for instance.....it is rumoured to be some steps ahead of its predecessors towards convergence...but Im pretty positive that once it is out and people start using it...the threads on additional features that could/should have been there would start sooner or later

To be fair, I don't think I've ever come across an MP3 player or an Iriver etc with an AM & FM radio.

To be honest...if cellphone manufacturers are able to incorporate AM/FM radio into handsets, there wont be many people complaining either.....at least not by the looks of posts in this thread)

Sammyboy mentioned SW. Now that would truly be a wonderful inclusion! As for streaming gprs, i've had Virtual Radio for some time on my s60 Nokia, but if you're paying for gprs it can become horrendously expensive to use.

Don't you have to have a diffrent antenna for AM?
ie. Either another antenna or keep just one for both FM/AM but porly optimized meaning worse reception for both?
I'm no good with radio technoligy so hopefully someone else
who is better with radio can elaborate this.

SE have made something with AM tuner in a phone.

not just AM tuner but they put a TV tuner too.....camera is removed.

i guess some ppl won't mind a phone with no camera but come with TV and Radio tuner.

they you go...SE have think about this....the down side is....it is not available to the rest of the world except Japan.

good luck to those who want it, but I haven't listened to AM Radio since the early 80's so it doesn't worry e a great deal!
