The guy at the Orange shop told me yes, and I have no reason to doubt him since all Orange phones are locked as standard. As far as I know Sony insisted that Orange not be allowed to brand the phone as they normally do but were allowed to lock it, but I cannot confirm this since I don't have another mobile network sim to test it out.

Because the W800 is a WALKMAN Brand, Sony has told all operators that they cannot brand the phone. This is why no matter which net work you buy or get it from, the logos etc will not be that of the network and the phone will be as if you bought it from Sony Eric.....

thats funny because my w800 is branded by o2. The start uo screensaver and ending screen saver is o2, it wont allow me to delete those in the file menus. Says it a protected file.

Well that's peculiar but I was told this by a Vodafone Sales Rep who is very well educated with phones etc. I got mine on Virgin and is not branded. Well I guess am wrong so I do apologise then for any misinfo. Will have to go give the vodafone rep a piece of my mind then..

Actually, I haven't done it yet, I was kinda waitin a few more days to get more feedback here!! Ive also been really busy at work.

Im interested as other networks acquire the phone because I want to see how Orange's £60 compares. Already it's beginning to seem the most pricey.

I was told that the Walkman Iogos on the (housing) of the W800i cost SE £100 per phone. Not sure if this is actually true, but it would make sense for SE to refuse neworks branding this phone with their own crappy logos if it is.

I got w8ooi on orange on 13/08. Looks good, works fine and syncs well! Walkman - rocks beautifully and camera is great too.

I did observe few hangs - when Bluetooth is ON for sync. Not too sure why though. Will keep updated!

To add on - when you go to software information - it does mention orange implying it islocked to Orange !
