howdy all-
i just picked up a PSP today...the gaming world is quite new to me, technically speaking.
So i have been trying to read through this thread and have definitely found some good info...but i have a few questions i am hoping can be answered:
Why are people wanting to downgrade the FW??
>I have version 2.60, what is the general concensus on this?<
Is it possible to create your own UMD disk??
Are there any good shortcuts for using the webbrowser??
Is there a limit on the size of memory card?
thats about it for now! I am getting on a flight shortly, so i look forward to trying out this setup
thanks in advance!

1 - Gamers downgrade to 1.0 for homebrew games and applications. Basically homebrew games are cheaper, actually its free if u can find it in the net. But personally I don't like it, I rather buy original games... coz homebrew is not perfected yet.. and games are usually Old games..
2 - No theres no recordable UMD disk yet... so no pirated games.
3 - Maximum Memory Stick so far is 4GB with the latest firmware 3.0. But theres already a 8GB Memory Stick coming soon...
4 - Yes you can store bookmark pages, so all ur fav site are stored and access easily!!! woohoo!!
5 - If you upgrade to 3.0, there a bunch of upgrades you can use, RSS, more Audio/Video format available now, Remote Control uses with your PS3, Music Visual, and lots more!! Thus in mind you can not downgrade for homebrew as there is no hack for 3.0 yet...

i have a question regarding updating firmware.
should you install thelatest one as soon as it is announced? and how many times can you update your firmware before your psp eventually bricks it?

As far as I know, no it isnt but you can put on some 'homebrew'...Check THIS out...Only bad thing is that I think it always requires a Wi-Fi connection...Not too sure though....Sony are releasing a GPS accesory for the PSP though in the coming months ...

I dont install any firmware - I stick to 1.5 for obvious reasons ...But there is no harm whatsoever in updating - the only case I know of bricking, is if you update and DOWNGRADE a lot of times...But just make sure that you want to update before you do, as if you change your mind about playing homebrew, there's a chance that you might not be able to...

hhmmm not sure.... try converting them to mpeg format... or use DVD Decrypter to directly rip movies off DVDs into mpeg... than convert using PSPVideo9.

What games/UMD's & downloads do you have?
I have;
Games.
Me & My Katamari (japanese quirkiness at its best)
Colin Mcrae
Toca 2
Fifa World Cup (good online - better than Fifa 05 for PS2)
GTA LCS
GTA VCS (not played it yet - got it for crimbo)
Champ Manager 05 (got Plymouth Argyle to win everything lol)
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (nothing like shooting a wookie)
UMD's;
Spiderman 2 (was free if you register ur psp online)
Downloads/Demo's;
Locoroco
Locoroco Halloween Addition
Moto GP
These can be downloeed from the official Sony PSP site incase u didnt know.
