It was also reported in another leak by the Register that X1 will be available through 3 network contract on a very reasonable rate. I am waiting for this baby very patiently since it was anounced way back in March and I am in no mood to jump to any other CR** ......... you know what I mean? Hopefully next X phone will be better than this and for time being X1 is enough for my needs.

Better than X1, the candybar Xperia is cheaper than X1...
Besides, i can't see X1 hitting the shops in 08 at all imo.

It's not stable at this point, it needs more work.
Well, have you seen any review with a final device yet?

Haven't seen a review with a final device but there are plenty of hands-on reviews and BengalBoy has one coming up for the latest ROM he got a few days ago (read first post on this page).

But if the release date is in October, I'm going to assume the device is now finished and being mass produced. How do you know it's unstable? (Don't tell me Eldar said so )

Look, i'll be happy if i'm wrong ok, i hope it's here in October, or even before that, but that is not likely is it?

Eldar and everybody else says X1 is not stable, Smape also said this, hell, they even did a preview a few days ago, they should know, don't you think?

Final conclusions will be drawn upon testing a next-to-final sample later in autumn. The currently available sample makes a great Christmas gift provided that SE fixes the spotted weaknesses on time, without pushing the release date into the next year.[quote]
This is from Smape.
Doesn't sound like a October release does it?
Stability issues i've heard from Eldar yes.

What about compatibility with other SE charger, headset etc? One of the reasons I am STILL buying SE phones (knowing that SE is bugware expert) is compatibility with my existing accessories.

... which the X1 does not have as it lacks the Fastport connector.

Then it is 99.99999999% HTC phone. Why pay extra for SE logo?

If the X1 will be release by september,Then why is that we still don't have any new white paper for the final approach of the product?

@WhyBe

Is that $499 on AT&T with a 2 year contract? as if so that really sucks big time IMO. As the iPhone is only what $200 and even the Bold is only expected to be $200 approx on contract which makes the X1 over twice as expensive. Do you know how much the Touch Pro will be on contract?

Also 40,000 doesn't really sound like a lot of units for the whole of AT&T and the whole of the US. Do you know how many units other smart phones sell a month in the US?

I have really low expectations that this phone is going to be released with AT&T.

I'm not saying that it won't happen, but with the way things go with AT&T, they take forever and a day to release a branded [high end] SE phone.

I remember the S710 took a really long time to be released and when it got to the K850, they just eventually scrapped the idea of releasing the phone.

@ron.jeremy:
Your quote of smape has nothing to do with software instability:
- High price
- Challengeable keyboard ergonomics
- Non-canon screen resolution
- No TV-out
- No hardware 3D acceleration

1) High price. Of course. We were warned about this from day one.
2) The only possible legitimate issue on this list. The X1 keyboard seems to be a love or hate situation with reviewers.
3) BengalBoy says that the WVGA screen resolution is not an issue. This was several ROM's ago when he tested this possible problem.
4) As far as no TV-out, we don't have the final unit yet.
5) There definitely IS 3D acceleration. smape is wrong on this account.

I don't know how much the TouchPro will be, but why would it be significantly cheaper? The TyTnII is still $500 at AT&T right now I would have to pay $300 for an upgrade to it.

Also 40,000 doesn't really sound like a lot of units for the whole of AT&T and the whole of the US. Do you know how many units other smart phones sell a month in the US?

I don't know AT&T sales figures, but considering this is one of the most expensive phones on the market, I wouldn't expect it to sell millions. Also, 40000 is an initial order. Perhaps there will be more ordered if there are strong X1 sales? I certainly don't expect the X1 to do iPhone sales...TouchPro or Diamond neither. Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles and Grandmas know about the iPhone. Only enthusists know about X1/TouchPro/Diamond. Everyone's at a disadvantage to iPhone sales except lowend phones.

I think this explains the January AT&T exclusive, release date. Everywhere else seems to have Oct/Nov as the release date.

I remember the S710 took a really long time to be released and when it got to the K850, they just eventually scrapped the idea of releasing the phone.

But the X1 is on schedule.
I think the early announcement partly was to build up anticipation and excitement for the X1. The price alone would make it a hard sell, but, all of the love/hate buzz the X1 is getting has only served as free advertising. I never saw a p910 or p990 or p1i on AT&T shelves either (at least where I live at). Sony has it's own stores like Apple.

Just been looking on the website shop on the coming soon section and it shows the Xperia for a January 08 release
I'm due another upgrade in March and I think this will be my last phone if it doesn't perform well.
I tried sniffing coke once but didnt like it. The bubbles kept going up my nose
