I just received an answer from the Swedish SE helpdesk and they also told me a new firmware fixing the msduo-problem will be available in week 49.

Well i wouldn´t call it a x-mas present from SE. It´s rather something (hopefully a firmware) that they should have delivered a long time ago.

I do hope that they have fixed all the other hundreds of issues and just not the file corruption!

Let us cross our fingers they don't screw up this time. Hopefully no more additional bugs. A firmware just as good as the original R1L would be fine with me.

Ooo if they only could make it right this time!!! And i also would be satisfied if the new firmware would be at least as good as the good old R1L002! I miss those days when my phone was working properly! I think i got all the bugs that you possibly can get with the newer firmwares!

I just got this from SE on email:

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.

With regards to your enquiry, there will be an update released through the Sony Ericsson Update Service in two weeks which will resolve this issue. The Update Service can be found in the Support/Software Downloads section of our website at www.sonyericsson.com

I am not happy before my w800 works like with the R1L-firmware. A new firmware doesn’t mean a firmware with no problems – we all remember last firmware update! Perhaps the new firmware makes it unable to use the radio or sms – you’ll never know when SE is making "presents" for us…

yes exactly, let wait and see. Maybe we should give them a chance this time, i mean at least they seem to have actually acted on the complaints so i suppose thats something. But we can be forgiven for being pesimists
