It's my first time trying to update my F/W
Plz answer my questions:
1-Does the updating process depend on internet speed?(I have a dial-up connection);I mean what would happen if in the middle of the download phase ,the connection goes dead?
2-Is it important from which SE site u update ur firmware? Should the update site match with ur CDA?
3-My F/W is R1J,should i update it to R1N or wait 4 the next F/W?(Because there are no SE service centers around here AND i'm not going to pay 10 bucks to those davinci guys.)
P.S.:are there any other free & safe ways to update the F/W rather than SEUS?
Plz answer my Qs as soon as poss since i don't know wether to update my F/W or not |

1. The actual firmware update does not begin untill the entire firmware is downloaded and stored locally. Then the java application updates the firmware from the locally stored file. Internet connection speed or loss of internet connection will not influence the actual update. It will only affect the time it takes to download the firmware files.
2. It makes no difference which site you go to, all regional sites links to the same SEUS server from where the firmware update is performed. |

The way you express yourself doesn't really deserve a reply, but here it goes:
I agree with the fact that SE (and about every others phone company, software company...) should properly test their products before releasing them. And they should make more of an affort to resolve buggy FW.
You are wrong, however, in comparing a 5110 to a W800/K750. Today's phones are complex multitasking computers. Computers that need an operating system and applications to run, these are written by people, people make mistakes (especially under time-pressure).
You are also wrong if you think that SE are the only phone maker that suffers buggy firmware (just look around on Nokia forums).
The reason SE (and others) bring out poorly betatested firmware is competition. They want to be the first on the market with feature X and Y, for that they gladly take on firmware complaints. For these bugs can be fixed, while being late on the market is irreversible.
Now please grow up and learn to express your grief/anger without all that childish swearing, you're making quite a fool of yourself.
edit: I see masseur has removed the previous foul post, thank you.

I tried to update my F/W into R1N 4 the first time.
After the F/W download completed ,i removed the USB,turned off the phone, wait 4 20 secs, and then while pressing C key connected the usb again but after 2 mins nothing just happened.
u got any idea? |

i tried to update into R1N but it stoped at 48% for about 5 mins and then 50%,then 51% and then 100%.
and then Error in communication
and now i have a half operational phone which the cam doesn't work
the F/W says it is R1N but the cam's F/W is still 4.4
there are no SE service centers around here and i've got no idea what to do

i gather you on dialup
when you flash make sure you have internet connection during flashing too,.
its normal for it to jump from 50-53% to 100 depending what previous firmware you have.
yes it ussualy goes slower around 49% but mostly continues, this is main flash of the file completing.
50-53% is the fs part flashing and im not sure i believe after flashing seus is contacted in order to complete phone and incorporate partial fs flash into the rest of fs software. things that are not working are ones that are changed between versions and not joined to old fs mainly camera but also other things that are written in fs portion of the software. main flash should function normally meaning youll have the memory bug most likely like the rest of us lol. funny that thats considered normal but thats part written into main.
now you should also try recovery mode next time since you have downloaded files so just start from phone turned off and holding c, plug the phone at the prompt. leave internet connection on.
maybe wrong bout this but sure others didnt mislead you on purposse just we dont get many flashers on dialup. and most ppl that do this for living use standalone tools that can complete (sniffed transmission from emma2, emma3, or seus) phone without needing internet to unpack raw flashed fs.
in the worst case youll endup paying davinci 10$ LOL that you dread sooo much!!!! better than paying local unlocker between 20-50 bucks.
anyways you got $500 dollar phone and you worry bout $10.
hope you take comfort in knowing your phone is not irepairable, anyways better to flash complete phone than partial fs patch.
take care though to learn to use software before you use it and dont cry foul if you make mistake.
nyways good luck
peace
"1-Does the updating process depend on internet speed?(I have a dial-up connection);I mean what would happen if in the middle of the download phase ,the connection goes dead?"
note you asked during dload phase and numb answered you correctly
well firmly believe you need internet towards the end of flashing phase in order to complete it!!!!
if you had net connection during this try other 4 things, repair mode and/or davinci and /or local phone shop not need to be se service center, just have to have right semc tools or if you got money buy tools yourself and get money back by flashing/unlocking friends semc phones
P.S. everything i wrote here is an old info and if you used search and maybe read more wouldnt be "OH MY GOD
PLZ HELP". asking 3 questions out of which one is "how can i do it for free", dont give you enough info in case things go wrong.
oh and ill give you a tip look for thread by "jockyw2001" from 10 days ago
