Darn, no. The Note II was 5.5". Z2 was nearly the size of the first Note which was 5.3". I would prefer them to stick with 5.2" and decrease the bezel, or at least make the device more ergonomic.

I'd love to go a bit larger than the Z1. 5.2-5.7 would be perfect.
Who makes the Z2 display? Isn't the Z3 likely to be by the same manufacturer now that the Z2 display is getting so much praise? |

Hey, the stock shortages are due to too large of demand or limited supply?
The Xperia Z2 pre-order actually ran out of stocked in my country, surprisingly - usually happens to Apple or Samsungs. |

Here's the press release for the Qi Charger from Sony, the CP-W5
http://www.sony.com.sg/pressr[....]3/section/productpressreleases
"The CP-W5 has a broad range of charging options. Its main strength lies in the fact that it can charge devices wirelessly or via a charging cable while on the go. It also serves as a charging plate when connected to an AC power supply. Simply place the Qi-compatible device on top of the CP-W5 and both your device and CP-W5 will be charged at the same time."
So it is both a standalone battery and a charging plate... Seems good |

Wonder if the shortage is to do with the ram? or memory? Both are supplied by samsung
http://www.xperiaguide.com/20[....]9/xperia-z2-disassembly-guide/
perhaps sammie is saving the ram for themselves or even apple ordered a lot? or they are not producing enough?
Or perhaps qualcomm can't produce enough 801s?

there is shortage which limits Z2 supply, but some consumers already have Z2 in their hand as of now. |

So idea, perhaps randomuser or anyone else knows this.
What are the chances the new sensor in the Z3 will have phase detection? Or a hybrid autofocus system using phase detection and contrast detection? If anything, at least phase detection would be nice.
Also no dedicated amp for walkman fine, I've come to terms with this, but what about a dedicated bionz chip for photo processing? Maybe down the road? Z4/Z5? |

I'd fall off the back of my chair if the Z3 had a phase/contrast hybrid AF system. Only Sony's mid and high end cameras carry that tech. Not even the new Alpha A5000 has a hybrid AF, and that is a dedicated mirrorless APS-C camera that costs £400.
Ramu may have a clearer picture (ahem), but a modified BIONZ processor MAY be a more probable contender for future Xperias. Perhaps labelled "BIONZ for Mobile", IF implemented it would require more than just uplifting the current BIONZ-X chip from Sony's Alpha range. The standard BX chip is too large to fit in a super-slim XZ, if Sony continues down the path of "thinness rules".
There would also be issues with heat dissipation, especially during video recording. 4K video recording with every frame processed by a BIONZ chip in a water-sealed device? You'd run the risk of it melting after ~10 min. Sadly everything has a tradeoff: IP58 = big bezels, 4k screen = battery etc...

No phase detecton/ no dedicated Bionz AFAIK
