How about a reversal where you take a Walkman player and add phone functionality to it rather than what happened to the W8? Physical music keys so you don't have to unlock the screen etc. and a quick access to music library; big battery of course. Sometimes you don't want to pull out your phone in front of everyone, nice if you could change tracks quickly and without drawing attention; if you're a Londoner you won't even get the space on the train to fumble around. Android is Android with a different skin depending on which company you choose, hardware these days is too minimalist so a music centric device with such keys would be very welcome.
I use a basic Creative mp3 player but with an expensive set of headphones it becomes brilliant so doesn't necessarily have to make a high end device. A perfect example is the Xperia Play with its pad that makes it unique and better for games than anything and with this, you don't really worry about specs or camera etc. If the W8 had music keys then it becomes a hit instantly regardless of how similar it is to the X8.
@HxH
Personally, I need durability and usability so its HTC all the way for me. For me, HTC Sense is essential for everything I need to do and my Desire is my longest running device. However, I'm still looking for the X10 Walkman W10 with dedicated music buttons. Anyway, HTC are looking to mix it up so I wouldn't be surprised if they came out with a dedicated music device but its usually* hard to ignore the Walkman brand.

You keep saying this. Is this something you know about or just your hope? Cause that's exactly what I would like to see....

Actually, having checked the information which I received, back in March, from a very reliable source, there is a very good chance that the 'W995 successor' will be one of the trio of phones in the next announcement.
No further info though, sorry.

Are you sure it's me? I thought it was said elsewhere in this thread. |

I think a lot of people would be happy if the form factor of the W995 replacement remained the same - slider.
I'd like to see more metal in the finish, the same or greater cam, better video recording, huge internal memory and good stereo speakers and bigger screen.

I'm pretty sure it was meant to be the W995 replacement in that it wasn't Android and it shared the same form factor with the W995, that ought to be an interesting device, considering the W995 was one of the most powerful devices made with A200, I can't help but feel the W995 successor might but a cheap replacement |

I really do hope not.
The camera alone beats a lot that is available on the market today and if they made the phone using high quality materials, made it a bit slimmer, give it a larger screen and threw in a 16GB stick, it'd sell.

The only reason I'd update from an elm/hazel is for a W995 successor. While its an excellent phone, its just not worth shelling 270 euros into. If they go with a newer version of it, and then slap us all in the face with a new line of phones using A200 or perhaps even A300 then I'm with it. |
