Well the store said the same thing they had a stock problem but the stores were not told why. Cannot have been hundreds broken from the Japan quake cos they come from China. Maybe a batch was damaged in transit.

I find it hard to believe something can crack the screen whilst in the boxes without damaging the box beyond being saleable. It's more likely something like a rapid transition of hot and cold or a resonant frequency wave in transit or a batch perhaps using an odd glue that contracts unusually when it dries.

OR

CPW are lying and just have delayed stock because of Japan being up the sh*tter.

I think their lying to be honest. But they did say no store or warehouse of theirs have any stock. One store said since it came out the Arc they only had three. @unknown_x that was lucky mate glad its survived and goes to prove that protector is shatter proof upto a point.

I have found random excessive battery drains on my Arc as found by others. I downloaded an app "Watchdog Lite" that alerts the user if any process starts drawing more power beyond a threshold. It recently alerted me of a process that started in the background when sending an email with an attachment as the process continued to run even after the email as sent (with occasional other processes). I then killed it manually from the app and the battery discharge went back to normal.

Just wanted you guys to check it out as I found it better than any task killer (which so far have been useless TBH) as this one pin points the process causing the issue. Also this implies that there is definitely a software bug which Sony Ericsson needs to address in a subsequent fix!

CNET Australia's real excited about the Xperia arc. They think the Xperia arc is the first great smartphone of 2011.

Overall:--
The Xperia Arc is not only the best Sony Ericsson smartphone we've seen in years, it's the first great smartphone release of 2011. A perfect blend of design, features and performance, the Arc proves that you needn't sacrifice power for design, or design for features and connectivity, but that smartphones are best when designers find a balance between each equally important element. It's a shame that the camera doesn't live up to the hype of its Exmor-R sensor, but in the end this seems trivial in light of everything else that works well about this handset.

Hi again

I tried a few things about the sensitive screen issue. Also, found out the A/C charger is 850mA while the car charger is 1200mA. The battery heats more on the A/C charger though, I suppose it's ambient temperature, since temperature in my car is always adjusted with Aircond...

Also, battery seems to be getting better with each charging cycle.

Anyone living in a hot climate area experiencing same thing?

Well I live in the UK which is not a hot country and I had the heating issue even when unplugged. Always at the top of the screen but I don't think its really an issue cos many smartphones get hot and one as thin as the Arc will get hot cos that battery screen and processor heat has to go somewhere. You can't have a phone with a built in CPU fan. Yet.

All these task killer etc apps drain your battery there is no need for them these days as Android manages apps when needed. I would look more at how often twitter, email etc is updating. 3G drains battery so use Apndroid from the market to use 3G when you actually need 3G - have the Apndroid button on your home screen make it easy.

There was this problem on other Android devices until those little things were looked at which improves battery life.
