@aksd:
You said earlier that X1 will probably not be a great performer when it comes to games with higher frame rates. Can you suggest any games that may exhibit this problem on the X1? BengalBoy is willing to test it out, as long as it's a game he's willing to play
I know a golf game was mentioned earlier, but I was thinking something where flaws would be immediately apparent...an action game. Any suggestions? |

You could try COD 2, there are two version hardware acceleration and software acceleration, you need to get the hardware acceleration.
Theres also Wolfenstein, although this might play well
Then theres Doom and Quake, already tested on the TyTn II and we're getting 6-9 fps should get a little more on the Omnia but not playable.
Be sure that any of the above games he is testing he makes sure that its the hardware acceleration version. Some of them might not play then he needs to replace a few files in the game with a few few files from his /Windows folder.
What you however can do is ask him to goto http://www.glbenchmark.com and run the benchmark tests and post up the results. Tell him also to run this and tell us what it says http://forum.xda-developers.c[....]ttachmentid=56120&d=1193671680 This should tell us if its hardware accelerated or not. Of course GLBenchmark will also, and from those results we can gauge the performace with games(otherwise which he would have to buy)
The Golf game was a SYmbian game, not sure if theres a version out for WM.

Thanks, but I would like to provide him with a simple link to purchase/download the game and try it. Don't want to have him jumping through too many hoops. I think Quake (the latest version) would be a great tester. If I use handango, what device should I specify since X1 isn't listed yet? |

You should specify the Diamond. It maynot be supported yet. We might have to manually change a few files to get them working.
I dont have any links offhand sorry . Never found the need as they never worked on my phone .
Can you please get him to run GLBenchmakr though. Thats more helpful than testing a game, as we need to enable the fps montior on the game etc. for us to get a decent comparison. If he runs it and says its good enough would'nt really be enough you know. GLBenchmark should tell us if theres any improvement over the Diamond.

OK, I'll see about the GLBenchmark. I was hoping we could get something that he could record and post for everyone to see. A benchmark test is kind of boring and doesn't satisfy the "give-me-the-bottom-line" crowd such as myself
I want to SEE it working.

The Diamond one may not be hardware accelerated as no games have been released using the Ati optimization, maybe you can try the Nvidia 5500 or the Intel 2700G version.
No guarnatees it will work
Check this as well check this link http://forum.xda-developers.c[....]ttachmentid=56120&d=1193671680
or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405722
Working is one tihing, working well is a totally different ball game. Dont get your hopes too high, although I'd love it if you proved me wrong

As a side note, are there typically tons of differnet versions of WM games to suit specific devices? I can see a hardware accelerated version as opposed to a non- version. But do versions have to be specified for various manufacturers also? |

Nope, unless it is hardware accelerated. There exists 2 platfroms at this moment. The Nvidia GoForce 5500 and the iNtel 2700G.

@d-southwest:
I agreed with you on how it was smooth. It was also smooth when BengalBoy showed an Opera Beta running on the X1 months ago.
Someone else was disagreeing on it's smoothness, not me.
