Anyway, why did SE change EROM CID to 51 which makes it impossible to update to R3A016? SE may be happy to see many end-users updating their EROM via 3rd party clients by themselves, not involving SE at all, which means SE can save time and energy fixing broken phones...isn't SE supposed to be benefited from the ease of updating EROM? Is this EROM CID 51 is intended to make K800i R3A011 equal to R3A016?

Well, some said CID is just a pair of RSA certificate (http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=139112#post1873301) . Well you are on that threat as well.
Don't worry to much I bet within weeks Kulan/wotan will be able to load CID51 EROM again. In the mean time just make sure you don't drain/cut off the batt while the phone is still doing something.
As I said SE must have reason to not include this EROM update. I just hope the reason is not to milk those who are not covered by warranty (like bought from overseas). |

I finally can flash my Wife Z610i with Taiwan firmware with Kulan Kendi. It has something to do with their feature of finalisation without flashing and I accidently activated it. But I found interesting info as well:
I talked to Kulan ppl and they said that if your phone has CID EROM 49, then you could not update to R1GB CID51 directly. You need to upgrade EROM CID 51 first then flash the firmware to R1GB and that need 2 credits. He said he can't control it and it is a suprised moved by SE. He is trying to figure out how to make that only need 1 credit. I wonder now why wotan has R1GB CID49 . The move to CID51 EROM may be made by SE to make third party update more difficult. He also confirm that you can't downgrade CID. And once you are CID51 EROM you can't install R1ED back ever as that is CID49 firmware (you can only install R1GB CID51 level or newer).
Well as some said that CID is only a pair of RSA (certificate). Maybe finalisation also just inputing necessary certificate to SE phone.

To try and answer the questions regarding the EROM and CID 51
Currently it is not ava to update the EROM using SEUS. I also dont beleive that it would be possible as you have to press more than 1 key and then remove the battery and re replace it.
Customers using the SEUS dont want to be messing about like that also some wont like to keep removing and replacing the battery.
The EROM is the BIOS of the phone and yes is the part that the Boots the phone. However the CID is also an extension of the phone EROM and the CID has been created to improve the security and boot sequence.
The new update is partly a way round in updating the boot sequence of the phone.
There has been a service adivisory out for the EROM of the SE K800 phone for a while but this is for the SE service centers only.
There are only people that read the internet etc that no about the problem, normaly when people get a fault they send it into the shop and says its stopped working, Shop repairs it and he cusotmer is happy.
The EROM doesnt afftect all K800is only some of them and it wold be impossible to do a recall on them as people dont register there phones etc.
As there is no major problem with the handset like catching fire, blowing up etc. There is no need to issue a public statment.
Many Millions of people will never update the phone or even have any problems.
I hope the above makes sense. If you need any help or want any more info then please pm me.

The whitepapers say that the K800i is able to play MPEG4 files encoded with the H264 encoder, but when I encode such a video with H264 codec (video) and AAC codec (sound) the mobile is unable to play these files.. |
|
1. Because it's not Walkman-branded.
2. H.264 files have to be QCIF resolution to play back, it can't play back QVGA h264 files. |

Well, I see your problem has not been resolved. But we are not sure what you are talking about. If you can provide picture that shows where the 2E0W string shows up will be helpfull! |

That's why you should not upgrade through Wotan and buy a unbranded phone. |

Many thanks for the explanation. So less worry for those who has upgraded to R1GB. Yeah I think considering so many k800 sold, the one who is searching the net actively is the one who has a problem or question and that is small percentage of failed k800. |

@darrengf and hanugro:
Thanks for the enlightment. The moral lesson is as long as everything runs well, don't worry so much. So, don't fix what is not broken. Once again thanks. |

WSOD can be fixed by rewrite EROM. BTW, it is known bug. Don't use the video thumbnail but use the list. |
