Personly I think Sony (which is one of the owners of SE) are trying to do what Microsoft have done. As the largest supplier of home electronics, providing non-standard Sony specific extentions such as headphones and memory stick is a way to make/force you buy Sony stuff even in the future keeping all competitors on a safe distance.

Once you buy I Sony device, they now you wont abandon their product although you may find their strategy both expensive and irritating.

@david1975

Its exactly that human behaviour that giants such as Nokia, MS and Sony rely on to keep or increase their market shares. For instance, a small company such as SE have more to prove than Nokia. Its not enough for SE to make better phones, they must be exceptional to gain market shares unless Nokia starts to disintegrate as Siemens seem to do.

I can inform you that SE has changed their mind and that it is now possible to use 3.5 mm plugs, i.e. ordinary headphones.

That's true. But the 3.5 mm jack is placed on the provided handsfree wire and not on the phone itself. Better than nothing I guess.

Just a wee thought...

Did one of the manufacturers not release a set of bluetooth stero headsets recently? Whats the possibility of SE releasing a bluetooth adapter that u can plug any headphones into? That would be a perfect solution IMO as there would be no added bulk on the phone (ie no connector...)

From the SE site on W800
" In addition to the phone’s internal memory, you can have up to 1GB expandable memory." So it's _not_ 5Gb and _not_ 2Gb (since the 2Gb has not been released yet).

Check under "Store more" if you don't trust me on this. =)

As I have mentioned previously, Jan Wäreby the Corporate Executive Vice President of SE promissed in an interview recently for a Swedish finance magazine that 4 GB MSDP will be available around christmas and that K750 and W800 will be able to use them.

MSDP as such is otherwise standardized up to 32 GB.
