Now we just have to hope they put the IMX686 in the next flagship phone

Public portifolio.
They would not put in their best phone something even cheap ones will have.
They turned down quadbayer before, i dont think it will change.
They will keep using custom one.
I also doubt Google and Apple will use it too.
Mr Buks posted yesterday : 3 cameras + tof, 12MP 1/1.7" ....

I think whatever tech they used for this they can incorporate it for this new sensor too. There's no commercially available 1/1.7" 12MP smartphone sensor yet. Could be imx700 or in the 6xx series. X1 had 445 and it had advantage in detail and noise reduction in low light. This new sensor will have 1.88 um pixels which gives 25% more area than 1.68um and a whopping 80% than 1.4um. With a good lens and rnr and improved alpha processing, it could deliver very good results especially for low light.
These 60/48 mp are actually 15 and 12, not to mention Huawei almost matches CC9 in detail with 10mp. I think detail has to do with sensor size and lens (and computational photography). So 12MP is not a loss.
But the next midrange should definitely use a QB sensor or at least reach 1/2" size. |

For midranges they dropped 1/2.3" for a 1/2.8" and 1/3".
So I would not be surprised if they do it again, also using isocell.
They want to earn money by cutting costs instead of selling more.
They should use the new 23MP 1/2.3" for "L4" and imx686 for "10 II " / "10+ II"...
Also, they should make a 20MP 1/1.5" instead of 12MP 1/1.7".

Sumaho has an article that shows a device from Sony certificated.
It says it is K9170 with 4200mAh.
It is certification from Brazil.
But Sony no longer sells in Brazil.
Someone that works for a tech site told me companies to do it to make sure devices work in case someone buys in other country and bring.
But he could not find it, so I have no idea if this is true or fake.
I hope it is true. I had many messages to Sony telling that no matter how good Stamina is, people feel excited when they see batteries above 4000. Even if a phone with 4000 has same endurance of a Xperia with 3500. Battery numbers attract costumers.

Face id?

They said once that the software of 3D scanner brought with xz1 and later added to front cam could easily be used as face id. But they had no interest back them.
Does face ID of iphone for example work when lights are off?
I mean, you wake up in the middle of night and grab your phone. Can you unlock?
That face ID from android smart lock does not.
About the K9170, Buks did not confirm but did not deny.

Thanks @Bee
The post on weibo says : Same screen, 8Gb/128Gb, wifi 6, 4120mAh. Same body size.
I suppose the front design remains unchanged.
I hope they dont change rear, unless they hide cam bulge.

Thank you. This leak pretty much tells everything except the camera sensor details. I guess that the K9110 and K9170 are 4G and 5G devices. |

hope sony doesn't take away the fingerprint sensor yet.
face ID tech just isn't good enough and unless sony uses android's implementation (which isn't the greatest), it will have a tough time integrating it into the apps that use fingerprint for logging in.
just give us the FPS please. have face ID as a 2nd option.

The image says 550ppi quad HD. Then next line says 4k. I don't think this page is legit. But there was another rumor that they'll drop 4k for battery.
I think +1mm is too much for just about 800mah increase. Maybe the back will have a more prominent curve reminiscent of ambient flow to hide the cam bulge
Edit: to have 550ppi and 21:9 you'd need a 6.65" display

Doable considering the supposed dimensions - it would mean that the STB ratio would increase from 82,17% to 86,25% and the working space would be equal to that of s10+ (103,8 cm2) but smaller than that of mate 30 pro (108,7 cm2).
Not that impressive when compared to competition but would be more than enough for comfortable grip.
Hopefully at least the rumours about increased battery capacity turn out true. |
