1020 vs 808 : http://mynokiablog.com/2013/07/25/nokia-lumia-1020-vs-nokia-808-pureview-more-than-meets-the-eye/

I finally had a chance to stop by an AT&T store and shoot couple of shots with both phones.
So, I think so far all the comps I've seen had the 808 on 85% jpeg processing, I am yet to see a reviewer set the jpeg processing to superfine on the 808.. so I did that.
Also, for the first two shots I set the 808 to 8Mpix pureview mode, instead of 5, which brings down the pixel combinations from 7:1 / 1 to .. probably about 5:1, which should result in loss of IQ.
And finally, I had both phones on full automatic for everything else, and for some reason the 1020 chose higher ISO speeds. I really don't understand this. Considering that it has a faster lens, OIS, and .. BSI, why is it shooting at higher ISO speeds ? It doesn't make any sense.
I mean, yes, the ISO scale for the 1020 starts at 50 points higher than the 808 in general, but still...
Anyway, like I suspected, the 808 will have the upper hand in terms of IQ regardless of the conditions.. I am 100% certain of that. I will go back there tomorrow and set both phones at 200 iso and see what happens.. I am curious to see what would happen to the shutter speeds on the 1020.

Indeed, 1020 is not a successor to 808.
1020's images are too grainy, noisy and oversaturated. I'd even argue that Galaxy S4 produces better images. |

Those 1020 crops compared to the 808 are crap. Look at the grain on those crops it's the same grain seen on the Lumia 620 etc

No, i have a GS4 and i'm happy with its camera but the GS4 is not as good as the 1020 as i seen those pics taken with the 1020.
Oversharpening, grainy or colors too warm...ok but it's a modern smartphone, fluid, fast, hd screen...those things that the 808 doesn't have, keep this in mind.
Better everyday use, exeptional camera for a phone...nokia did it !
Maybe some updates to improve the cam for the "proffessional cameraphone's shooters" and it will be cool |

What's the point? placing on the market of new model of the phone which is equipped with a digital camera worse than its predecessor, digital photography fans eagerly waited because he supposed to be the successor of magnificent model 808
Apparently the present day has not invented anything more modern ...... |

OIS for exemple, i had the 808 twice and it's not easy to do blur free pics without a tripod (with no flash i mean).
For me OIS is a serious advantage for everyday/night shoot
I'm used a Lumia 620 shortly, i'm not a big fan of Windows phone at all but i found it much better to use than the symbian 808...and it was only a 620 ! |

Samsung Galaxy S IV in conjunction with a digital camera of the Nokia 808 = best smartphone in the world |

This crop is horrible. I still love Nokia but I don't think this phone will save them. I also think it's not a patch on the 808. Yes it has OIS over the 808 and a better OS but I see far more grain and noise over the 808. Nokia did this with the 920 before release and updates didn't improve it all that much.
