C902 Firmware Overview |

Hello
Great site! I wonder if you can help?
I updated my unbranded C902 (on Vodafone) to 1204-1733 R3DA028 080908 yesterday. The phone works fine EXCEPT I now have a terrible "chattering" noise when I'm using Bluetooth to connect to my car kit. Both myself and the caller can hear it. Before the upgrade it was fine and the car kit is still fine using my old K800.
SE support in the UK have told me it's my problem not theirs, despite them advising me to run the update in the first place to try and cure my problems with the camera quality!
Anybody got any ideas? At the minute the phone is unusable in the car, so bad is the noise over Bluetooth. Can I revert to an earlier software? Please help or the shiny new C902 is heading to the bottom of my sock drawer and the trusty K800 will have to be put back into service!
Many thanks

I recently bought a C902 through a Hong Kong store. I live in Australia. I've got the latest firmware update however is there anyway I can change it so my phone isn't 'originated' from Hong Kong as such? As the updates I get are 'Hong Kong'.
Furthermore, I seem to have a hardware issue. Randomly my camera features like to activate even though the slider is closed. I say it's a hardware issue because FW updates don't seem to help. I sent this back overseas once and they can't really seem to find the problem. Obviously the error didn't happen with them, it's random and so they must've missed it. This is a worry to me as it consumes battery and is also frustrating that when I go to put it in my pocket my camera activates though the slider is closed. Does anyone know a resolution to this? Or am I stuck sending it back and forth between countries only to have nothing fixed!
Thanks in advance to any suggestions! |

@Valhalla: Do you use the keylock? You should always lock your keys when it's in your pocket. You'll notice that when the keys aren't locked, and you press the camera shutter button all the way in, it starts up the camera (even if the cover is shut). Maybe this is your problem?

Yeah I've got a case like that too. Right now I'm actually using my old k800i case ( i lost ye old trusty phone lol). And because it wasn't designed for the c902, it's a very snug fit, but due to this, my camera doesn't budge at all and therefore my problem is temporarily solved until I'm willing to take it to a repair shop to fix up whatever seems to be loose in the mechanism. |

Hi: everybody:
I updated my C902 yesterday (Hong Kong SAR region) from R3BH002 to R3DA028.. I found one bug so far...
MMS message couldn't be switched to "sent folder" automatically in 3G networks when the MMS is sent out (but actually, the MMS is received by opponent). However, the MMS message would be switch to "sent folder" automatically when you selected the mobile networks in "GSM".
Any idea???

I'm on the "Three" network in the UK and they havn't released an updated version of the firmware ever!
Just spent 15 minutes on the phone to them where the women insisted that the newest version of the firmware was what they have on their website...
http://three.co.uk/personal/h[....]e_update.omp?cid=1212580605835
...which is still the original version, she even told me that if any new version had been released it would not cause my phone to keep locking up / been slow / losing sound whilst making a phone call.
She did say I could send the phone in so they could run a diagnostic, but seems a little pointless if they won't update it.
What do I do now? |

Ring up again and state what the latest firmware is, the date of it, and you could even list the bug fixes. It's up to the network though to update the firmware, much like it's up to Dell to update their ATI video drivers, so if you do want the latest firmware and they won't budge, it looks like you're going to have to unblock the phone. |

Hey guys, i just recently (1 month ago) bought a c902, and have been having problems with random freezing (its usually when im in the XMB going through songs, etc.) and am trying to update it. i used the sony update service but it says update not available. my firmware is R3BA035 according to myphone explorer 1.7, is there anything i can do about the freezing? (i bought it unlocked, can't return)
edit: if it matters i bought the phone from someone in UK, its fully unlocked and fully debranded, my main question i guess, is my firmware even updateable?
edit2: subquestion: should i risk doing it through these thirdparty websites since i've never done it before and my phone is not returnable if it does break?
edit3: also, unrelated i spose, but i can't send MMS messages, when i go to it says i need an update, then i choose to update and it says it can't update.

For those having problems with SEUS and getting 'Update not available' message, I suspect it is related to wrong CDF. Phones with correct CDF will get 'Continue anyway' message, meaning that you are given chance to re-install the firmware.
Check the service menu and your CDF must be like e.g.
....
Customization
1208-6181 R1A
1204-8246 R3DA028
APAC-ANZ
......
The service menu can be accessed from standby, by pressing dpad right, *, dpad left, dpad left, *, dpad left, *. Check your software info.
The CDF must be 8 numbers separated with -, e.g. 1208-6181.
Otherwise, SEUS will always reject it.
It is true that many service centers just flash the phone without considering this CDF. Indeed, the phone works, yet SEUS always rejects it.
Most troublesome phone has CDF 12345678. Format wise, it is incorrect.
To solve it just pay at http://www.davinciteam.com or http://www.kulankendi.com and change CDF and flash the phone with the latest firmware. SEUS will be 'friendly' again afterwards.
Personally, I suggest KulanKendi, as I have tested it myself, pick up R3DA028 CHINA.min and R3DA028 APAC-ANZ.fsm, change CDA (or CDF) to 1208-6181. I guarantee this one is SEUS-friendly. As a note, it is Generic Indonesia. If you just need English, it doesn't matter, does it?
Indeed, some branded phones do not get updates as soon as non branded ones. However, with the correct branded CDF, SEUS will always say 'Continue anyway' and you will be able to reinstall the firmware again although it may be the same version. You won't get 'Update Not Available'.
