Thanks for replying.
If it's java, I'm sure that there are enough java programs to cope with the lack of built in features. |

Perhaps. But it's probably worth having a good look around before you buy to see whats available.

The only better 'phone' I have found is the Psionteklogix īkon pda phone.
Price ranges from 1500 - 2000 euro and it weights half a kilo, good battery pack though.
Nokia's next toss and drown remains unanounced, if they even have one, can't find any in other brands.
This seems to be the only option.
Btw, I haven't read anywhere about how big memory chips it supports, I'm sure that as it's their own brand, it can go quite high?
Current nokia only supports 2g microsd max. |

It will have no problems with an 8GB M2 card. It won't take any other type of card though. It may even support bigger, but they only go up to 8GB at the moment.
You might know this, but the C702 isn't really a rugged phone as you seem to want. It is splash and dust RESISTANT, which definitely does not mean that it is water-proof or dust-proof. It will resist a certain amount, but you definitely couldn't toss and drown the phone. That would f*ck it up!

Heheh I know all about that, but thanks for the warning.
Only exceptional phones such as the Casio g'zone claims it's waterproof, not just water resistant (but it's not available in Yurop : ((( ).
But in most cases, 'water resistant' is an understatement.
With all nokia splash resistant phones I have been able to make and accept phone calls whilst showering, never had any problems. : )
Even after rejecting the older ones because I got a new model, my sister used them untill they were totally broke.
She melted most because she welds a lot n stuff, so the sparks break down the cases untill they finally reach the electronics.
Mostly you can still switch cases though. ; )
8g seems plenty for now, if they release 16g I would go for that though. |

I will surely update my K850 to the good promising C902, but first I want to read something about the firmware |

I like the C702 very much. 3mp camera for me is enough. QVGA 30Fps is a nice addition. besides the A200 is wonderful design is built to withstand my carelessness(dropping the phone 1 meter above the ground )

Ya its good but look at the ugly screw at the back that puts off the whole design, therefore im still waiting for a decent cybershot phone.
C902 slide mechanism is a question mark, and only time will tell about how well it is.And 2 inch with so much gap surronding the screen is a disappointment

yes... but don't go too far.... there is a 90% possibility that the phone records video in QVGA @15fps (just like the other pruducts from SE--- 30fps may be a mistake in the white paper)....
BUT i really really hope that i'm wrong |

I don't think the C702 looks very rugged. It looks like any old phone really. Can someone point me to a source saying its rugged cause all I've heard is that it's dust and water resistant, and all that means is that some of the openings such as the speaker will be better sealed.

If I want street maps on my c702 will I always have to connect to google maps or can I save them on my memory card by downloading them on my computer and the transfering them to my phone??
Will google maps or wayfinder only cost data usage or will there also be a fee for using the service?

GSMArena reviewed C702:

I like that part:
"The photos of the 3.2 megapixel camera are pretty good, with fine detail and nice level of sharpening. The images are well balanced with mild contrast. We have some issues with the focus in macro mode, but do remember that this is not the final version of the camera firmware. Generally
,***** image quality is above Sony Ericsson K810.****" |
