you can replace with modded, but just remember you can't do a master reset unless you can copy in a default layout.xml. In K750 the actual original layout.xml must be restored but without FS copying from phone we cannot get at original layout.xml, only one from an extracted FS, so you may find that if you do a master reset you will have to reflash phone from scratch.
ya i got the default layout.xml..
and i some hoe worked out and everything is fine..
thnks for the reply |

Hi all
This is my first attempt for modding, and there is a question I can't find answer...
Can I change my K810 menu using only for manager? If yes, could you confirm me that I just need to delete the menu.ml file of the phone, and then to transfer my new menu.ml and the icons?
Is that all I have to do, or do I need other stuffs?
By the way, is it possible (and how) to make a backup of original menu.ml file with far manager?

yes, yes, yes, no.

no. You can copy a file but you will notice that any file you copy with far to the computer has zero bytes, in other words an empty file.

Hi! Can anyone please share to me the original k800i icons and menu layout. Im planning to start my first menu modding of my k800i using xs++, but im still apprehensive due to the reason that i dont have right now the exact copy of the original k800i menu layout and icons, the ones ive downloaded in here which is labeled k800i_original_layout with also the icons, does not look entirely the same as the original, notable changes are the replacement of the Playnow icon and the video call icon.
I would really appreciate it, if some of you good samaritan out there will furnish some links with the exact thing im looking, im sure many will be happy also to acquire the original set up of the icons and menu.
Thank you and enjoy the rest of the day or evening! |

Look, if you are going to start modding and you are apprehensive, why not read the thread? It states clearly in this thread on several occasions, that there are NO original icons needed to restore to default. All you need is the original menu.ml file (the original icons are embedded in firmware and if you use the original menu.ml then it will point back to the embedded icons and not the custom ones). This has been explained several times. Also, there are several post's of original menu.ml files, as well as ZIPPED DIRECTORIES of the ENTIRE K800 FILE SYSTEM.
Also, in this thread is a link to the Menu Modding Guide I produced. You can't expect people to keep explaining the same basic steps again and again, this is why I made a menu modding guide. If you want all the instructions handed to you on a silver platter then you don't have the commitment necessary to start hacking into your phone. You will screw it up and then come on here asking ten thousand questions about how to fix your broken phone.
So do yourself a favour and actually read this whole thread, you might learn something, and follow the links as you find them.

I've posted it before either somewhere here or in the modding guide.

hey'all anyone notice some strange positions of icon during preview or taking photos when using full screen layout.xml like the one with psplite????
for an instance the photo resolution icon 3mp, 2mp, 1mp and vga, instead of the usual position that is "lower right corner" after applying the layout.xml of psplite, the resolution icon was now placed at the "middle right" and it's kinda annoying when taking or previewing photos......
any fix for this issue?? im using SE k800i...
thanks for the concern.... |

I don't know for sure, but I think that it's not possible. These sorts of errors with layout.xml, as well as the master reset problem, is why I don't layout.xml to remove scrollbars - if I'm using a fullscreen menu I jus tlive with the scroll bar. Better than having a buggy phone.

I appreciate your reply on this matter, thank you. However, you dont need to be rude in doing so. Ive read the articles and the guides not only in this site but also on other sites. Its my sole responsibility if my phone breaks down on whatever i do to it, not you or anyone. You dont need to lecture me on COMMITMENT issues. Also a favor for you, please be polite in replying post and queries, or much better not to reply if youre going only to lecture.
Thanks and have a great day! |

sorry I was rude, I admit I over-reacted.
please try and understand it from the point of view of the people who are trying to use the thread productively. The more times people ask the same question the harder it is to scour through the thread looking for the info you need because it's so full of people asking the same questions over and over. When I want info answered the very first thing it seems obvious to me to do is read the thread from the start incase I've missed something. I just don't get why people ask questions that have been answered several times? Do they expect other people to do the hard work of reading through the thread for them?
Anyway, I meant no illwill. it was just the last straw, not you in particular. Hope there's no hard feelings

i guess everyone is entitled to burnout a single point in their lives...
max is a very patient man, as far as i can read his thread replies all over Esato™, but i can tell you guys... those who are asking for these files....
youll know wot we mean if you yourself try to upload it. and after awhile someone will ask over and over again, tho they maybe different persons, it just gets really annoying at some point... i guess its also the reason why they created this smiley
im just trying to make you guys (those who ask for download links to much) to try to use the search engine. its helpful.
and to those who are being ranted at, please forgive us... we do need to release these at some point, too bad if it will be on you... but ei! we dont bite. we just bark.

hehe, thanks for your kind words rocky. Now for something touchy feely, and to apologise for my outburst and wasting the thread ranting - you can backup files from your internal fs to the others folder (or any folder you want), and here's how to do it:

There is a way to prevent losing the Edited layout.xml after doing a master reset. Using Farmanager before you drag & drop the layout.xml from the right pane to the left pane, with your mouse right click the layout.xml file, then press F9 on your keyboard, go to files, then file attributes, select read only & press set. Now drag the file over to the left pane & that should be it.
Ps you can use this same method for other files too. |
