I emailed largepig's letter to sonyericsson & got this reply:
Dear Madam,
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson.
Regarding your enquiry, many thanks for your constructive comments. You are
right in saying that Esato is an excellent point of reference for mobile
products, Sony Ericsson included, however they are not part of the Sony
Ericsson organisation and we are therefore powerless to assist them in any
way.
For further information on Sony Ericsson products and services, please visit
our website http://www.sonyericsson.com and if you have any further
enquiries please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards,
Andy Moseley

Doesn't look like they're gonna budge!
It seems like donations are the only way of keeping estato alive for now |

can't blame 'em, dude. they have enough problems competing with nokia, and now another site to support? . . . maybe if the p800 clicks, they'd show a bit more consideration . . . for now, keep on clicking the banner atop the main site. |

it wasn't so much that they refused to help that pissed me off (that was to be expected), it was the fact they said they were powerless to help because esato isn't part of the sonyericsson group. thats like sayin we are all powerless to help because esato is not run by us. if they had just said they were unable to help at this time then it would have been galling, but honest. powerless my arse. we all have the power to put our hands in our pockets.

hmmmm... what if all of us, members of esato, will email SE at the same time? will they give in? hehe.. short of harassing them.

heheh . . . well, that's big business for ya. brush aside the "little people" . . . but if you think about it, without us, no sony ericsson . . . so all we could do now is support esato using spare cash . . . |

Agree with black cat. SE ones again proves their crappy marketing skills. Just think of all the free publishity they've got from esato. It's a shame they won't acknowledge and appreciate that with a little financial support.

harassing them won't help, it'll just make them more determined to dig their heels in.
the fact that they won't help might have something to do with
www.clugsonyericsson.com
i don't speak the lingo, but i guess they'll be charging for logos and ringtones (and probably advice knowing se), so its not in their interests to help esato.
the only way esato will survive is if enough people will miss esato enough to put their hands in their pockets now, or whether all this indignation is for show. i'm not having a go at anyone in particular, so please don't take offence. if you do feel offended then its probably your conscience telling you that you really should donate.
rant over. sorry.

Of cours they would benefit from supporting esato. I'm not talking much. Just enough to show their appreciation.

Thanks for the contribution so far. It seems like the donations has stopped up for now.
3 Nov. $60 - 3 donations
4 Nov. $254 - 12 donations
5 Nov. $130 - 6 donations
6 Nov. $91 - 5 donations
7 Nov. $70 - 4 donations.
Nothing on the 7th or today. Total so far is $653. Some did donate before the 3rd, but they are kept out of this calculation.
I received some concerned emails about server downtime earlier today. The hosting company or their line supplier lost the connection to Internet a couple of hours. The Esato machine was not down but no one was able to reach it.

Even if I could, I would not delete old messages from the board. It might be usefull for new members. Remeber the "when/where can I upgrade my T68 to T68i" period? Search engines are also fond of old pages.
