I still think they should've made it all silver. |

ok so the front is definitely metal which is good, but shame about the back but I guess that is because it may affect the signal or se are being cheap.
I would have preferred it more if it was all black. |

That gap is not that big if you look at it from certain distance. And think is good because your fingers don`t run over the touchscreen when you type.

I don't care about lens cover. I'm more worried about scratching the screen than the camera lens.

I miss the lens cover too! Lots of ways of protecting the screen but lens have a way of getting scratched way too easily if not well protected!

Hi all,
Well the answer to this potential problem should actually be quite simple purchase the Martin Fields screen protector as on models that have a camera they come with a lens protector as well as the screen protector so all protected and problem solved.

for those who thinks that the p1i is the successor to the m600i, do have a look at this:
http://www.mobile-review.com/fullnews/main/index_eng.shtml#13947
also this:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=147653
so it seems the p1i neither replaces the m600i, or is a direct successor of the p990i (arguably). this makes it a completely new product in the P series line-up. so SE isn't as slutty as we think after all, they have managed to hold on to some principle, albeit by working round the corners ...

about the design, i think the m600 is unique and very nice too. it looks like the p1 is an imitation of the nokia 3230. just look at the silver on the sides.

As in any other area of creativity, it`s impossible not to have influences design-wise.I agree, the middle-case from M600 looks better.
None the less, P1 still looks sexy |

well. . when i first saw the m600i on the net i thought i found a Perfect phone . colors, functions, it WAS Perfect . and.. after a couple of days i realized what was missing and went to get my fathers gun . but he doesn't have one.
sooo life goes on :]
and now i saw p700 > p1, i know what will be my next phone. [my k700i is yet so boring after 3 years of service though it still is a great one..]
i must admit that coloring and the looks of m600i is bit better than p1.. maybe it's just me - but BLACK and BLUE / WHITE and BLUE = Perfection .
:] njah, it just proves nothing is perfect, suppose... |

i might replace my P910 in the next week or 2....or should i wait for the P1i? or go and buy a P990 as it costs a lot cheaper now, around $350.
also, aside from size, memory and keyboard, what are the other differences between the two? P1i supports voip, does the p990i support this too, as I prefer to be able to use my voip server when allowed

It seems to me that the P1i is a "new" smartphone series, to run alongside all the existing ones. SE did say that they would have a raft of UIQ phones coming out this year, so why not both a M610 and a P1i - it also leaves room for a P990 replacement - complete with flip/slideout keyboard.
2 thoughts though ... firstly, if the P1i is to replace the P990, then SE would normally have pulled the existing model - ie made it end-of-life which AFAIK hasn't happened; and secondly, if the P1i was not to replace the P990, then why the choice of name - as in P-series ? ... unless this is to indicate that it is much further "down" the range and that the replacement for the P990 will something else?

I have to say that when I compare these 2 phones (P990i and P1i) I can only find that P1i is similar to P990i and even better (with better cam and more ram). So P1i is not something "down" on P series scale.
It's the new P line which has emerged from marriage of P and M series. It's good choice from SE imho.
I like smaller smartphones without strange flips and stuff which makes phone look like brick.
That's my opinion don't take it personal anyone
