yeah i take your point, i guess they could, if there's nothing at the front (screen) or at the back (battery)
you see the T9 has its flash pushed to the rim, behind which there's no button and no screen at all (the screen is situated lower, the buttons towards the outside)
if they do that to T650, that will need some kind of compromise like the samsung X820, with the thicker camera part up there behind which there's nothing
also, the T9 is 15mm, 3 mm already makes a huge difference to a 12mm phone, imagine being able to slip just a few more circuits below... it's tough, every company just has to figure out their own way, for example the antenna on w880 took almost half a year to modify and fit in that 9mm body, and they had to put it at the bottom of the phone otherwise the SAR rate is gonna be as bad as moto L7, that's just an example

I think the main reason for not putting a xenon flash in t650 is the existance of k800/k810, it would just make these phones very similar and they still want to sell them all. About the screen and the battery you're wright it's a difficulty, but there quite a lot of options for design optimizations. |

Yeah when is the next announcement? This one was a damp squib for me (no Sofia and we already knew about the P1) |

Not such a long time, half year?
It also took NOKIA several years to catch up with the inovations and now they're ahead again. I guess SE is not sleeping and we'll see nice surprizes when they are ready. |

maybe Shinobu/Maria will be announced at the party after the announcement just as the W950i was?
though I don't rely on this...

yes it indeed took them years to catch up
things have been doing fine since they got the NEC screen deal, and the Toshiba camera deal |

I guess why most of us have been disappointed is the fact that besides the shell design update, there's nothing new. Phones last year had the same specs, but just different designs. |

its classy
this is swedish design at its best (talking about t650)
green is going to be the new black - i bet we are going to see this soon everywhere and you also have to see that they are moving away from glossy styling - all the way dull
very well done

Hmmmmm all the way dull may indeed lead to customers going all the way to a small town in Finland now what's is called................... ah that's it NOKIA!

well I like P1i
it'll probably be my next phone, cause it fits my needs perfectly
but the reason I am complaining is that I've expected something
really exciting
still hope that SE will suprise me very soon though
btw, do you think that P1i could be a 'E61i killer' of some sort?
similar specs and better camera
or is it that their target groups are so different that it doesn't really matter?
I hope the back on the P1 is more substantial and fits better than the piece of junk fitted to my W950i.
Every time I press in the jog wheel the back cover shifts slightly from side to side, and it starting to creak nicely, It's just what I have come to expect from Sony Ericssons legendary build quality SE START TO BUILD YOUR GO**AM PHONES PROPERLY you charge enough for them!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

Sony Ericsson T650
Detail in design stainless steel casing and scratch-proof mineral glass display
Alive with technology desktop animations linked to light effects on the keypad
Without compromise 12.5 millimetre slim 3G phone with 3.2 megapixel camera and media player
Powerful by nature Advanced communications, multimedia functions and connectivity are all second nature to the T650. This slim 3G phone conceals a high performance feature set. The 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus takes excellent shots, and the 1.9-inch, scratch-proof screen makes it easy to shoot and view your pictures. The mineral glass display is placed directly onto the screen, which makes the colours more intense, improves visibility in bright environments and widens the viewing angle of the screen up to 170 degrees.
Thats sounds very expensive!!!
Sounds very good and innovating to me! No other model on the market has that feature (yet)!

hope it's not true
p700 (alias p1) as a p990 sucessor just sucks
don't get me wrong, it's a very nice phone(p700), but i'm counting for
something really mind blowing
if you want something mind blowing, wait 10 years, see what future phones will look like.

@antichrist
well my expectations are a bit lower than you think
a E90/N95 hybrid (specwise) in a P1i form factor
would be just fine

Why aren't there seperate discussions for each of today's phones yet? Is it because we still lack a lot of info?
I don't want a signature anymore. |
