@ Coxy - which operators in the UK offer EDGE ?
AFAIK none do, and EDGE isnt all that widespread throughout the world. Let me know if anyone in the UK does.

I never said they did, that is why I said that the K800 is better here, because you can use it for 3G and 2.5G, whereas atm there is no EDGE service here, so the extra feature in the K790 is useless here.

Hold the phone there! I very much doubt that any phone besides a Sony will be using Sony's proprietary memory format! Nokia/Motorola both use the TransFlash AKA MicroSD and some of them use MiniSD. Correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't seen anything stating anyone else but Sony uses MS.

I was thinking the same thing. And then i thought, i dont really make video calls so i dont need 3g. And before you question the fast downloads remember that any content cant be shared with you rmates via bluetooth ect...If theres a clip i really want on my phone id rather come to this forum and share through here so realy i wont need the k800 so ill get the k790.
And im sure the k790 would last longer batery wise aswel as it would be running of a gsm network not a 3g one.
|
| Some people dont seem to understand, that the 3g is not used if your not using it, so when it is on standby it uses the gsm network not 3g so there for the standby time should be the same as the K790.

@ Coxy - thats what i thought, i just wasnt sure if anyone had started offering EDGE or not, since i dont really care about it being slower than 3G.
@ londonlad123 - they have ? i'll check that out..

I honestly cannot believe all the bitching going on about this phone! It is offering EVERYTHING that IMO was missing from the K750 and has upgraded some functionallity too!
People said they want a better music player interface - IT HAS IT
People said they want to listen to music via BT headphones - IT HAS A2DP
People said they want higher speed internet access - IT COMES WITH EDGE OR 3G
People said they want a phone to hold more than 100, then 200 SMS messages - IT HOLDS 1000!
People said they want a camera with a true flash, not just an addon - IT HAS IT
In addition to all of the above, it has a bigger, higher res screen, 3.2MP camera with stabilization and best shot selector, a Web browser that supports html and can be read in landscape, an RSS reader and a Blog poster
I swear some people just won't be happy unless their phone gives them head!
The only LOSS of functionality I see in this phone is the Xenon flash. I'm SOOO used to turning on the LED light on my K750i in the dark to use it as a flash light. Other than that - can't wait to finally get a decent SE phone from Cingular (and one that will finally be using the proper frequencies and give me less spotty coverage). |

The k800 will be released first in June and k790 in July (dont know why?) But i do know that the 80% of the 1st batch if units are already complete. SE plan to launch this product in mass to avoid shortages.
The price is as with most SE phones (bar the p series) pretty reasonable. Between 300-400 Euros depending on which country your in.
In the UK you should expect to get this handset free for a £25-30 month tarrif to begin with.

@ Tervel - so what ? it can have as many new bells and whistles as it likes, if SE simply dont improve the basics, then whats the point ? would it really be that difficult to give the phone better video recording resolutions ? if Nokia, Samsung and Motorola can do it, why not SE ? Like ive said, i reckon the K800i is an old phone before its time, because SE are probably using the same hardware they used in the K700i, with possibly a slightly faster method of processing.
The K750i is meant to hold what ? 200 sms ? 100 ? i cannot remember the exact figure, but at the end of the day its all complete bullsh!t anyway because usually after about 70 sms messages my phone gives me the 95% sms memory warning.
The K800i might say it can hold 1000 sms, but will it really ? knowing SE, probably not.

etaab, i just don´t know why you post so much here if you already made your mind about the k800...
I find the sms thing a nerd subject...its just stupid someone points that has being a handicap
The only real letdown of the k800 is video recording, and i can live with it (even so i´m sure it will be better than k750´s)...i use the phone has photo camera, not videocamera
I say bring it on!!
