I believe I've identified a reason why MS Duo cards are gettign corrupted. Like others, my card was corrupted whilst copying a large file (in my case, a 70mb video) to the card.
Basically, the top level folder ended up being full of crud and I lost 400mb of data (all backed up of course)...
So I formatted the card whilst in the phone using the "format ext mem" option in file manager. Fine, except it did it again.
So, I tried a R1L002 phone with the card. It worked, unlike my R1N035 O2 branded K750i. Time to do some work.
To cut a long story short, it appears that the R1N035 firmware doesn't verify-write whilst in USB slave mode (i.e. working as a USB memory stick). One little issue, and there goes your memory stick.
I've also noticed that a large number of SE USB host cables don't make a clean connection to the fastport on the phone. The same issue appears to happen with the CDS-60 stand. And I believe SE know's about this issue, as the P900 and W900 phone's have less embedded fastport connectors as the W800 & K750 phones. Only by .5 mm, but that's enough to make a better connection...

good point happy...I wondered myself since I've noticed headset connection problems as well as cable (it makes the connecting bleep several times before it eventually connects well). However on R1L and previous must do write checking hence it not causing problems with data transfers, but does still cause probs for the analog audio connection (untill you get a nice firm connection).
Those peeps on R1N having problems may have better luck if they clean the connectors and hold the connector in firmly while the files are transferring. This may also explain the screwed up updates (drops connection while updating phone).
My cable at work (I don't use it that often) doesn't bleep at me several times when I plug it in, whereas the one at home which I use all the time has started to do so, so when I get home I'm gonna spread out the little loops that hold the connctor in to see if it gets a firmer grip and eliminates the bleeping. If it works it will indicate that the cable connection becomes looser the more it is used.
It would be interesting if the peeps with R1N who don't have problems rarely use the cable and use bluetooth mostly.

Just to add to the BT discussion, I'm on R1N, and I have to confirm each individual file when sending from PC to K750i. Given that using the cable is currently not an option, this is a royal pain in the proverbial.

yes, rather!
tomchadwin - using bluetooth with something like myphoneexplorer you can copy multiple files without confirmation for each (both ways) |

Just a question.
I bought my k750i in Australia, and currently it has the European firmware on it.
But I need to read Chinese characters for my songs, and I need to flash it to Hong Kong firmware.
Are there any risks involved? Or should I get a SE Shop in Australia to try to flash it to HK firmware? |

Well, a note about r1n bluetooth, maybe.
I don't like viewing pix on the k750, and I like to send them to my x51v for viewing. This worked for the first week, but now all of a sudden my k750 doesn't see any services on the axim at all.
I can't send from k750 to Axim, but I can send axim --> k750. Also, it allows me to use the k750 as a remote for the axim (just cute, really), so there's obviously services installed!
Anybody know how to just...reboot BT on the k750? a hard reset maybe?

Yes, scooby30, there is a firmware update newer than that. But please be aware of the bugs in the R1N update. |

Hi All,
Does anyone know when the next Firmware update will be available? I'm on R1N0035... But It's F****D.
I downloaded some MP3's from WAP, then connected phone to pc and copied more... only to find that all my pictures and all of my games and all of the MP3's were un-usable.
Tried all the fix's (master reset all etc..) even sent the phone away to be repaired by SE authorised... Still it's broken.
Ne Way - If you know let me please

I have personally only had one file corruption during the time I have had my K750. Unfortunately I can't remember what firmware revision I was using at the time, although it was undoubtedly R1A or R1N (I only had R1L for about 6 hours ).
It is an interesting theory by HCC, and one that sounds pretty viable. Perhaps the reason why I have fewer problems than average is because I almost always copy files to and from my PC via a card reader. |

Hi everybody
I've seen a link to some .DVT files
How can i use these files to update my phone?
Do i need any special program?
Should the CDA of the file match with my phone? |

Updated the first post with some possible workarounds for the MS Duo corruption issue. |

Right, just had a conversation with a guy from the Sony Ericsson Call Centre following my three previous emails.
The outcome was this:
1 - They are UNAWARE of any issues regarding R1N firmware, specifically transfering files to the memory stick.
2 - There is no new firmware due in the near future, as they are happy with R1N.
3 - They cannot look at forums on their PC's, so would not accept me telling them there are 100's of people with the same issues.
Their advice was for me to send phone to a service centre to have it 'checked for faults'.
I think this customer service sucks, and am seriously considering trading standards or some higher authority, as i now have a phone which basically does not do what it says it does. It even refused to let me answer a call the other day from my boss, and just froze.
Love the phone, hate the firmware and awful customer support. |
