February release for Yuga. I have heard that UK and Japan get it first in week 6 and the rest of Europe gets it in week 8. Depending on how US carrier negotiations go it will be available either in week 6 (if they don't get a carrier deal straight away) or week 10 (if they do). Announcement on Monday is week 2, so that leaves 4 weeks between announcement and the first shipments.
There is also a chance that a singe UK carrier will get it a week early from air freighted shipments.
The GS3 had a similar release schedule, announcement, then around a three to four week wait until release.
People say that the eventual target for Sony is 2 weeks from announcement to release for all mobile devices with pre-orders available on the same day.

It's weeks now instead of months, big difference.
Also, no one launches their phones in all markets the same week, some markets always have to wait a bit. |

Why do you need a multi user account on your phone??Its anyway personal you hardly lend your phone to someone EXPECT YOUR GF
A phone is usually a personal device, not often lent to others, but believe me, that feature is kinda a must have for some. A restricted account would mean my children wouldn't be able to buy stuff in games when they play on the phone, meaning I wouldn't receive a bill for thousands of dollars. A lot of ppl have already experienced that.
Multiple accounts is awesome, I use it on my Xperia Tablet S. Must say though, as it's a phone and not a tablet, the feature wouldn't be a deal breaker for me personally. |

I'm certain we'll see Vita OS or similar by Sony this year on a phone or tablet. Last year would not have made sense as they had just released the PS Vita, but this year, I'm certain they will.

What is it that is so special about the Vita OS?
Its such a massive pile of mediocrity compared to all other mobile OS's.
Let it go.
And even if they do make it, it will be DoA. Android is turning into an unstoppable juggernaut and iOS has carved a delicious niche for itself with brand power (and money) that Sony simply does not have. What makes any of you Vita OS officionado's so certain that it would thrive against Android, iOS, Window's phone alongside the upcoming BB10, Sailfish and Ubuntu. The former three all have much more money behind them than Sony can ever afford to put behind Vita OS without killing itself. |

Samsung drifts away from Android; will Motorola rise to replace it?
If Samsung adopts the Tizen OS, Motorola may be next up for the Android throne.
With Motorola X phone in development Google will focus on hardware as well. No other manufacturer will be able to compete. Samsung is already looking at alternatives.
Sony should do the same.

Samsung has been doing so for AGES (in terms of tech) in terms of duplicating/editing features for itself i.e. S-voice, a browser in the making etc.
iPhone has carved a niche? No, I don't think so. The S3 dominated it (and this was recognised by the masses, unlike Xperia T, HTC One X etc.). The S4 will finish it off.
Sony are about to kill it with a small-screen handset.
All it takes is one final marketing wave from the android OEMs and bye to iOS popularity (it will still remain, but will decline for the first time significantly). LG is trying, Samsung is trying, Motorola is trying. Sony doesn't seem bothered, nor does HTC, but oh well. I think HTC will market their products being better than iOS devices too this year.
What the hell is jolla? Business-wise, BB is being replaced by Windows, iOS and Android. Sony should at least enter the scene, and out of all the aspiring OSes, Sony's can make the biggest splash.
As I've said, it will be changed a lot for use on a smartphone/tablet. All Sony needs is 1 Phone, marketing-wise, it won't be too hard. I mean, if Jolla gets coverage, and BB10 gets a lot of coverage without any real ads yet, as did Windows 8, Vita OS for smarrphone/tablet will get a lot automatically before they even start advertising. And they could get their latest flagship (at the time), edit its design and specs only slightly, and make an enterance. |
