Come on you really can't be serious when you claim it is smooth and fast and then say
"Don't forget, he's surfing the net. A lot of the pauses I saw were typical "wait-for-the-page-to-load" pauses."
What of course his surfing the Net it's a web browser what do you expect him to do make a cup of Tea? You may be used to and expect waiting for pages to load on your P910 but those of us with newer devices certainly don't not now late 2008 we don't. That's the whole point of better browsers faster processors and HSDPA it means we get a desktop like experience on our mobile devices.
Waiting for pages to load is due to web connection speed, not how fast your processor is...since you're stating the obvious. Rendering is dependent upon the browser in use not necessarily how fast your processor is. The iPhone websurfing vids I saw look the same way to me.
The "flaws" I saw in the video were due to the things I stated, not processor/chipset performance. The scrolling and zooming looked smooth...which IS attributable to the processor/chipset performance. Connection speed and page rendering are not. Again, this is stating the obvious.
What exactly doesn't look smooth ?

Now I really wonder what did they mean with the january availibility on their own web pages, would they really be shooting their own leg like that? And could well be that the marketing sources from Taiwan have outdated information about the release, or the person writing that article has outdated marketing info from taiwan. Total lack of information, maybe that is SE's plan.. to keep our interest. |

@Rakdoll
I think it's SE's pre-emptive measure in case they overshot their release target. It makes sense if we look at it, coz it's always better to release a product earlier than projected, they must've taken heed from their bad experience with P990

Only one day of standby? Seems pretty bad, but I can live with it if that is the case. I want it now!!! |

question about the software stability:
is the WM os on X1 stable? the Xpanel is definitely SE sole OS contribution in here, but will that affect the model's effectivence? |

No I'm basing it on several MSM7200 based phones. And dont give me crap saying that the processor on the X1 is faster than the MSM7200 therefore it'll perform better, because the processor has no effect on gaming performance, its the GPU that does the work. The kaiser without the GPU functioning wont even run GLBenchmark. I've made sure I've included 3 different manufacturers using the same chipset. the best performance is from the Toshiba which looks like its making full use of the hardware acceleration. THis has been noted in several reviews as well, it still falls short of the P990.

Here, an android phone having a msm7200 chipset is playing quake 3d @30fps. I think you all must have seen it but forgot. I am not saying that xperia will be the best but this certainly proves that msm7200 chipset is capable of some serious gaming if the 3d acceleration is used and as far as i remember, SE promised to use it. |

Those figures are with 3D acceleration, the hardware does'nt support OpenGL1.1. Android is designed to exploit 3D hardware(like the iPhone) i.e. using OpenGL, WM is not.

I don't know whether this has been said before, but i'm sure many of you have heard of the Samsung Omnia I900.
imo the omnia is the iphone killer aswell as the X1.
In all areas the omnia is better than the X1.
They both are equal in terms of OS and features but for media capabilities etc the X1 is out classed.
See for yourself

If i were you and was fixed on getting an X1 the omnia might sway your mind.

Ok, so u mean WM doesn't support 3d acceleration of this chipset.
So, will it support after wm7 is out?
Well, i dont have the knowledge of all these things. Pls clear my doubts. |
