I have no complaints on my P990 multimedia capability so i expect X1 to be at the very least on par or better, that's all that's expected of it. So is the multimedia limitation that severe or would it still surpass my expectation?
Where 3D gaming and such your P990 will still be better than the X1. BUT the video playback will be .superior on the X1 than the P990 but not on par with the N95/E90
Thanks 4 clearing that up, but just how would it suck in 3d gaming, would it stutter if I played my favourite game like Vijay Singh Pro Golf? Or would it suffer graphically?

The fps will be less, itll drop more frames, might feel like playing it in slow motion although the difference between the P990 and X1 might not be all that noticeable. |

Are you basing this on Diamond performance ? |

No I'm basing it on several MSM7200 based phones. And dont give me crap saying that the processor on the X1 is faster than the MSM7200 therefore it'll perform better, because the processor has no effect on gaming performance, its the GPU that does the work. The kaiser without the GPU functioning wont even run GLBenchmark. I've made sure I've included 3 different manufacturers using the same chipset. the best performance is from the Toshiba which looks like its making full use of the hardware acceleration. THis has been noted in several reviews as well, it still falls short of the P990.

It wont even effect video playback, this is only OpenGL we are talking about. The games will run at a lower fps. The video playback will be far superior to the P990.
Also the UI wont be as quick as the iPhones. No WM phone is super quick contrary to what some expect. WM phones are quicker than in the past, they're quick enough for hard usage, but its not instantaneous. The iPhone is so quick only because of fantastic hardware-software intergration with the software making use of excellent hardware. WM was never designed to perform in that way and manufacturers are trying their best to work around the problem, but there is only so much they can do.

If the Xperia is indeed delayed and not released during mid September
Then i will wait around April May 2009, Thats when theres a brand new Horizon a plethora of Next gen Platform 720p 1080p encode decode Handheld, SnapDragon 1.0Ghz, Erricssons U500, Omap35XX, Moorestown 65nm->45nm architecture , ultra Low powered SVGA Oleds, Nvidia, Apx2500 (Tegra 650), Arm Cortex - A9 theres a couple I missed out,
My mind boggles, oh i forgot Motorola Alexander, I am happy to buy any Manufacturers Implementation, The Competitions is vast so theres a bigger playing Field and the first Company to gets FCCed (it be a race) will have a head lead in the market, Its the hands on, end user experience also the battle of the next gen OS, I dont want to even go there, It be nice to run yor handheld for a week without charging it thats with wimax turned on lol,
Now whos will be patient to join me lol, keep your P1i;s p990 tyn11 e90s etc just wait you wont be disspointed and you thought the xperia looked good!
Yes i do speak with somewhat confidence thats because these things are geering up nicely, manufacturers have the chips and sdk now, Word has it that Qualcomm have gave the full sdks for Snapdragon to HTC with a bulk order of chips!!!! the new dream with Snapdragon instead of the MSM7200a

...So what we get offered and what you get offered are obviously very different, they must of had that as coming soon for a long time now, does it give an expected release date and price yet?
Marc
I rang SE's NZ toll free number and they said it looks at this stage like X1 will be available in NZ in early 2009.
We always get stuff late...

THe OMAP 3430/20 will be used in next gen Symbian phones. The Nvidia APX2500 in next gen WM phones, and Snapdragon in a few WM phones + MIDs, moorestown is only for MIDs,
