Sony develops film that renders screen reflection almost non-existent WoW
Sony has used the SID 2012 conference to demonstrate a brand new combination of conductive film and low-reflection film that promises to render screen reflection almost non-existent in devices like smartphones and tablets.
The image above demonstrates just how good the new low-reflection setup is. The display at the top of the image uses a traditional conductive film and has very visible reflections. The display in the middle takes advantage of the new conductive film and noticeably reduces reflections. But it’s the display at the bottom that demonstrates what Sony’s film is actually capable of.

That could be Sony's answer to the Clear Black and Super AMOLED. Sony would only need to use S-LCD/IPS or even an OLED and it'll easily rival with the best in the market

Something about that demonstration image isn't right to me.
Look at the location of the reflection of the light on the table, it's quite clear the light is positioned so the reflection shows on the top screen, less in the middle and hardly any on the bottom.
I could probably reproduce the 'no reflection' effect on my desk with a couple of naked X10s and my arc.
EDIT: after reading the tech behind it, it seems plausible as a good idea. However, I still stick by my statement that the photo demonstration there is flawed.

I really hope Sony will manage to give us some major jump in device spec. to distinguish it from other's.. for example what they can release now and also in the second half of this year than can match One X and S3 ? while Sony it self has relations with NVIDIA for a quad core Tegra 3, Sony Mobile Communications doesn't have, they only use Qualcomm and ST for their SoC ? and both won't have a quad core offering till 2H12 and as usual Sony will need sometime to develope such devices... even HTC which has strong relation with Qualcomm didn't depend on it for the quad and moved to NVIDIA...
so the maximum we can get this year is still Dual-Core... nothing to match S3 or One X... so Sony should invest more on other sides of the equation... on the Software... but even thier UX interface is a much back in term of features compared to other.. not to mention other features like Android Beam or WiFi direct or other features... no wonder a lot of peoples don't think of Sony as a competitor to Samsung and HTC... one day I hear a friend say Sony has good phones but when you compare it to other's you will find them expensive because they cost same as others but don't have same features/spec...
note than both HTC and Samsung already announced and released their quad core offering, but Sony didn't I know it's SE to blame not Sony... and even if they worked out from the beginning of the year they will have only one option.. Tegra 3 as Qualcomm and ST doesn't have a quad core yet ( and won't have till later 2H12 ) and Samsung made it's own and won't give it to other's for easy...
So the only option they have is Dual Cores based on A15 which isn't bad at all and comes very close to current quads as all are based on A9 ( Tegra 3 and S3 SoC )... ARM it self didn't release their quad A15 design till recently and most SoC makers decided to push Quads only for A15 and 28nm except NVIDIA which made Quad A9 with a companion core to save power, and Samsung which waited till it can make 28nm and made a A9 quad... other simply waited and decided to put quads only for A15 and 28nm...
even the first Quad A15 offering from Qualcomm won't come till 2H12 and this mean devices will be out in 2013 and also this SoC won't have a modem and will require additional chip to provide modem functionality...
to be more precise the current S4 which is in shortage duo to high orders and not so good TSMC manufacturing ability has been sampled since 2Q11, but the quad core APQ8064 has been sampled only early this year...
So while we still have problems finding products using S4 when it was sampled more than 1 year ago, how long we will have to wait till we see products using the APQ8064 ?
I think because Sony doesn't have their own SoC, and the Dual Core A15 in S4 are very good compared to Quad A9 ( very close to each other ), Sony doesn't have to worry about the SoC that much, but have to concentrate more on other aspects like RAM, internal memory, microSD, LTE and also make more work on their software side, support more features and also increase the features of the UI compared to other manufacturer's to stay in a competitive situation with other manufacturers...

The reviews for Xperia Ion are coming in, not very good at all, esp shipping with 2.3. They see it as a midrange device. Here is The Verge's review:

Considering we don't have ions in Australia it was probably a Hong Kong import. |

AT&T positioned it as a mid-range device when they priced it at $99 on-contract.
The Verge also hates anything that's not a "hero" device. |
