Htc's windows 8 roadmap got leaked.. The entry level phone itself has s4, and the higher end will have quad core variant Of s4! That's going to be a thought competition now..but i wonder what can you really do with windows phone that requires all that CPU .. :s..

I want a windows phone when Windows 8 is released, all we need now is Sony to add Windows instead of Android and I'll be happy but looks like no goer with Sony though
The surface tablet is finally the PROPER portable pc, not some stupid ipad toy that is only good for watching movies. Good work Microsoft, I will indeed be tracking on your new product! |

That sheer power of the HW would be perfect for running DirectX games on WP8, It could make Android and IOS games look ancient despite using similar hardware due to the fact that DirectX is more developer friendly.

Win8 and WP8 both look mighty tasty. I do still prefer the Asus Transformer Pad series though and I think Sony could quite easily go down both routes now that they have no conflicting interests with Ericsson.
The problem is that these devices do take time to develop and the acquisition was only officially finalised 6 months ago and announced less than 12 months ago. Before then, SE couldn't develop anything like this as Sony wouldn't let them.
It's quite clear that what used to be Sony Ericsson is still a separate faction of Sony. This kind of merge of development resources, management office spaces and relocating etc takes time and isn't cheap. We can't expect 'fully Sony' flavoured mobile phones only 6 (or 7) months after the takeover was given the go ahead.
I'm looking forward to next year for the really good stuff. I think I'll spend my gadget pocket money this yeah on the Transformer Infinity 700 Pad and plod on with my Arc until next year.
On a different note, is anybody else thinking that maybe Hayabusa is going to be a blockbuster if they're holding onto the announcement for so long? Surely if it was what we've seen and are expecing there's no point in them waiting to announce it. That'll just cause more disappointment and anger (in king-james ).
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

The only exciting fact about WP8 is the developer friendly approach and DirectX integration, it wouldn't be too hard to think that Windows RT apps will start arriving on the marketplace in mass volume and the fact that WP8 and Win8's application interoperability would only mean easier porting of apps in contrast to Android's fragmentation problem that constantly make the developers' life difficult. The ever famous game engine developer John Carmack even admitted that DirectX have surpassed OpenGL we might be able to see games with superior visuals in WP8 than we would on an Android. Although I was never a fan of an overly realistic game with crap storyline, and I don't like restrictions.

Sonys looks like it's planning on spending a pretty penny (about a billion dollars) on boosting its production on CMOS sensors over the next year. Sonys CMOS sensors are already the products from many, MANY other manufacturers, so hopefully we'll see this trend continue and grow. Hopefully it's also a sign of bigger and better things on the camera front for their own mobile devices:

As a whole, it looks like Sony is trying to make some major changes to its business structure. First we had steps like the buyout of the Sony Ericsson joint venture. Then we had Sony selling its stake in its LCD joint venture with Samsung. Then we had Sony selling its relatively smaller stake in its LCD investment with Sharp. Now we've got rumours about Sony teaming up with Panasonic for OLED TVs - who knows if this will also cover smaller devices like phones and tablets, or if they're relying on AUO or JDI for that. The Panasonic/Sony joint venture is rumoured to be announced next week.

Then we have the most up to date rumours about Olympus and Sony being the leading candidate to bail them out by investing about $623 million for 10% of their business. It seems that Sony will get access to some of Olympus's tech as part of that deal, including camera and medical stuff. I suppose this could lead to possible advances in Sonys mobile division as well, but as they seem keen to branch into the medical field, I think that might be the primary reason for this move:

Then we have more outlier rumours like Sony being interested in aquiring Gaikai for its online streaming business potentially for the Playstation 4. This could have the potential of allowing mobile users to stream PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP and Vita games to your mobile phone and tablet, but would of course be a killer on the bandwith side of things. Those rumours kind of fizzled out after E3, but it looks like Gaikai is putting out feelers for a buyer so who knows.

Anyways, the point of all this is that it seems that Sony and its new management isn't content to just sit back and take it easy and apparently is keen on transforming Sonys business in big ways. I can only hope they succeed and can bring Sony as a whole back to its glory days where they reigned supreme in the tech world.
