Yes, the new phones are a complete and utter fail IMO.

Let's hope for new Premium to be announced before IFA, since this phone still seems promising.

After samsung #GalaxyS9 #GalaxyS9Plus , #sony #xperia set the TRAP too...
will you fall...
...AGAIN ?

Just in case you did not notice,we've come to a point that SONY - SAMSUNG only care about their real FLAGSHIP (aka #Note9 #Xperia 🌞#SHINYdualcamera51200iso),so if you DONT wont to fall for the third time
you can wait or consider #LGV40 #HTCu12 🎑 https://t.co/bzgL5fpLMk

Shiny is not about the oled screen. It's about the camera iso. Ricollo mentioned it. #SHINYdualcamera51200iso

So curious to see the specs.
I hope they are not 12 + 12.
At least 16 + 16. Or 20 +12

Also curious to see how it works because it is a preety high ISO value.
Professional cameras value.
For smartphones ISO above 450 can damage photos..

When Furumi said XZ2P , accident or intentional?
Because imagine this: you buy the phone in march, then maybe in june a way better one shows up from nowhere.
I would be mad...

It could have been just his mistake or a polite way to say : wait for the 10th anniversary gift.

But high iso means more noise....
Longer shutter speed and wider aperture is better right

Am I the only one here that actually liked the design of XZ2?

Reviewers like the phone, but Sony fans (or, should I say ex-Sony fans?) hate it. Look how cruel the fans are in Sony's videos on YouTube. See the dislikes, too! Lol

-------

There are no capable phone yet, to replace my Z3. But I need a freakin new phone. I don't want to wait until IFA, buy iPhone X/S9/XZ2, or use my current phone.

Any suggestions?

Maybe you have to give it a shot but why don't considering XZ Premium as online price should be much lower at this time?

Personally I'm not a fan to Ambient Flow design. I don't feel okay with thickness at thickest point that above 9mm and about look and feel not really outshine to other in landscape of design, very much resemble to many devices in wild. Camera and fingerprint sensor arrangement also other things in the list of not favors.

Only thing to make me reconsidering is how well and consistent that Dynamic Vibration Actuator can perform?

I really can't believe Sony change fingerprint sensor placement separated it out of power button, in attempt to crack into the US market which they have patent problem (fingerprint on power button signed by someone else). US market is never been their main priority before since become Sony Mobile

They have hard time to make negotiation with carriers, for example Z3v for Verizon is last model I can remember, barely make presence in store and promotion only about less than three months before shut out.

While a lot of people are praising the new Sony changes, I think Sony owes it to the hardcore fans to let us know when the XZ2 Premium is expected so if its sooner than IFA, we need some indication of that. I have no doubt that the XZ2 and Compact will score well in reviews but some of us have stuck with Sony through tough times so I think we deserve something for our loyalty.

Alvin, I'm rocking a XZ which cost me £250 brand new. Despite the bezel, its a great performer and worthy stop gap for you. I would experience the loop design, side mounted FPS and alkelido metal before all three enter the history books. XZs if you want slo-mo and XZ1 is pretty sleek.

@lone depends on sensor size too. Cameras with their giant sensors ( some have 35mm diagonal) can handle it pretty well.
If you get an Alpha 9 and shoot ISO 400 on a sunny day it will be okay.
Any cellphone with 150 already kills it..
Giant sensor can easily handle much more light. Alpha 9 can be used with more than 200k.

Guys, take a look at the article about dual cam on DPREVIEW.
The is a pic of the module, I guess there is no OIS, I cant recognize it.
Below a 2nd photo. To explain difference of performance.

Would it be the phone? .. All bezels are covered.
The other I believe to be XZ1.

I guess Sony is figuring even with this size increase, they still have little competition for compact phones - although with this creep up, the difference is becoming smaller.

Length is almost 5% longer
Max thickness is 30% more. While it's 25% thinner at the edges, from the photos it looks like most of the body is thicker.

XZ1c: 129 x 64 x 9.3 = 76.78 cm^3

XZ2c: 135 x 65 x variable = something over 94 cm^3

So the total displaced volume is well over 20% more!

What are the chances they'll introduce a non-flagship compact that brings the total volume back down this year or next?

This is a really nice change. Hopefully no more months of delaying for the next phones as well.

I'm not optimistic about those upcoming full reviews, I would guess new Ambient Flow will score little above average at best just like previous day, as reviewers tend to become nitpicking for Sony's products something that we would feel not make sense. While keep one blind eyes when in turn of brand from Korea, Taiwan even maybe China camp, like as these devices perfectly pristine.

I have only problem with my XZ which is Wi-Fi bug that completely drain out battery overnight/day, but when deploying only on 4G even from the third best service provider. Battery runs bloody solid without warm or hot.

I know It was a far fetched hope but double tap to wake isn't back. There is native night mode and one handed mode in display settings. Plus accidental touch prevention mode and ambient mode.

@Jo

I hope Sony going to make implement sort of 'Raise to wake' function resemble kind of Apple iPhone, will be really nice touch and completely fixed needed of double tap to wake if it true.

New wireless neckband bluetooth SBH90C look really sweet, It has built in USB-C port but 7.5hrs of music time is slightly decrease from currently device (micro usb) in use.
